Returning customer during another vacation trip to New York. My partner had asked me to stop by to support the shop. Selection is great as always. Wanted to surprise her with a Traveler’s Notebook, as I had slightly seen it online.
The only reason why I’m docking off a star is because I found one of the workers dismissive when I asked a series of questions about the notebook—to find the right one for my partner. I had asked “How does the black one look like?” Without a beat, she said “Black.” Which was inconsiderate because there’s made shades of black. And when I asked if I could take a peek, they immediately said it was on the shelf with a tone. It was the brown one that was on the shelf. I understand if workers are not able to remove the product from its original packaging, however their overall face and tone had discouraged me from asking another question.
All to say, my partner loves her Travelers Notebook. I do like this store overall and would recommend anyone to...
Read moreI normally don't review but I felt the need to publicize this. I saw niconico via a Tiktok and was charmed, so I wanted to visit. It was small and crowded, but I still enjoyed myself and the selection. In fact, I even spent nearly $60. My frustration comes when I left the store to discover I was charged for the cheap paper bag - ok, that's fine, everywhere does that. But 5, maybe 10 cents. Not this store. I made it a block before I realized I'd been charged a whooping $1.25 for their tiny paper bag. I understand this may seem like a silly thing to get mad about, but to spend $60 and then have an exorbitantly high paper bag fee tacked on at the end? That's insane. Treat your customers better. If for some ridiculous reason this is how you run your business, at least advertise that cost. I'd rather spend $5 on a reusable bag than have a sneaky $1.25 charged for a tiny paper one. Very...
Read moreVery cute place. It's very small so even 10 people in there at once can be hectic. I will say, that I will recommend that you pull out your phone and look at the prices if you see something you like. Many of their stuff are well over 50 percent higher than what you can find elsewhere. No exaggeration. I saw a pack of 12 Zebra Clickart pens for $26. Amazon has them for less than $10. And the same goes for pretty much everything else. So unless you want to support them as they are a small business, I would say avoid getting pens, highlighters, and notebooks here. Also, be mindful of the fact that they don't post the price on many of their products and the screen with the prices during checkout is facing away from you. They also don't give receipts. I thought it was just me but my friend went after me and we both noticed there was no receipt in the...
