I think this place is pretty good! There was a tremendous amount of hype to go to this place so I was excited to check it out.
Food: Went there during there brunch this past Sunday. I ordered the country breakfast with baba ganoush as an appetizer. The baba ganoush was pretty out of this world! I really enjoyed it. Extremely flavorful and smooth texture. I honestly wanted to order more. The country breakfast was good but a bit underwhelming. It didn’t have a tremendous amount of flavor and if the labne wasnt part of the meal then it was pretty dry and basic. But the labne helped the plate consistency overall. My partner ordered the Moroccan Benedict (sorry forgot to take a picture,) but that plate was much better and extremely flavorful. I would recommend ordering that over the country breakfast. But if you want more simplicity or if you’re watching that calorie intake (summer body goals, am I right? ;-) then I say order the country breakfast. But it won’t be memorable. Service: The service was very friendly and attentive. Nothing bad to say.
Atmosphere: It was ok. I think it was fine. It didn’t give date night vibes but a good place for the family and/or friends. The chairs wasn’t the most comfortable but I’m not taking points away for that. Overall, it’s a nice, it just felt a bit crowded but nothing that should bother you too much.
Overall: 4/5 stars. I had a good time there. I think the food was good. If I come back I will try their dinner menu next time. I think it’s worth going to and exploring their menu and variety of plates. I had a plate that wasn’t something to scream at but there are others that are worth that.

Read moreHow to even begin? I only have wonderful things to say about Café Mogador, despite an unexpected and rather dramatic mishap during my visit.
I was visiting New York City from South Carolina, just a few hours into what was meant to be a four-day trip with one of my best friends to see our favorite band. Our very first sit-down meal was here, and I had only managed about four bites when I started to feel unwell. I excused myself to walk to the restroom, but before I knew what was happening, I fainted and collapsed, proceeding to smash my face into a wall.
When I came to, the restaurant staff were taking excellent care of me. They were extraordinarily kind and attentive, moving me to a comfortable position, helping me stay calm, tending to my injury, and making sure I received proper care from the paramedics when they arrived. They didn’t charge us for our food and even asked us to call if we needed anything. All preconceived notions I had as a "southern hospitality" southerner about the people of New York were banished by their kindness. Their compassion meant the world to me in a moment that could have been far more frightening and embarrassing.
As for the food: those few bites were absolutely delicious, and I wish I’d been able to enjoy the whole meal! Thank you again for not making us pay. Though I left New York the next day with a black eye, a split eyebrow, ripped out eyelashes, and a concussion (and without doing any of the things I’d planned to do on this trip), my lunch at Café Mogador will remain an unforgettable experience. Thank you to the staff for your kindness and care. I hope I didn't...
Read moreA disappointment. A neighborhood classic and chill spot has turned into varnished privileged postulate. Sitting outdoors you can't help but be overwhelmed by the smell of dog pee rising off the sidewalk. Were we were sat in the gutter of the street were the table was on a incline. Due to a strict seating policy, this was the only outdoor table were we could be sat. The water bottle placed on the table by the server fell and shattered. A restaurant patron came over and began kicking the broken glass at me while sharing his concern for the dogs walking by. A service crew member showed up and started grabbing things off of our table and moving them without saying a word. Then began sweeping broken glass under me while I was still sitting in my chair. I worked in a restaurant typically broken glass on a table or near a customer is not handled like this. I could have gotten cut. Not one person or team member asked if we were hurt or ok. Actually our server after we decided to leave asked not if we were okay but if we still wanted to take our food to go. The experience was appalling and unacceptable. As a woman of color, I am disappointed. Disappointed in the fact the majority white and latin staff showed zero concern for me and my friend as human beings however was still willing to have me pay for some appetizers. Disappointed that one of my favorite restaurants since 2017 has turned into this. No one apologized. We were handled and more concern was shown for the dogs passing by than the people who attempted to patronize...
