Maritza Hammel and her team were an amazing group of people to work with during our wedding process. We were blessed to have them by our side on our special day. Despite some unexpected challenges, such as a late arrivals from vendors, rainy weather, and last-minute decor changes, Maritza was there to support us every step of the way. I myself am in the wedding industry and Ive heard horror stories about how venues/vendors will charge extra for last minute accommodations or they won’t even accommodate. But she made sure we got what we needed and Her quick thinking/problem-solving skills saved the day. She went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect. Not only did she set up an extra table last minute, while I was having anxiety about my dress not being here in time she offered to bring my wedding dress back with her from her vacation in Europe. (It got here just before the big day) But the fact that she offered proves that she’s truly there for the brides and grooms and wants to make the couple’s life a little easier with all the little wedding stresses going on. She really made our wedding day the most memorable and special day of our lives. If you're planning a wedding, look no further than, Renaissance Event Hall was the perfect location for our wedding and Maritza Hammel was the best planner/helper/therapist etc. we could of had. -Sharmeen & Hadi #Shaadi

My husband and I have lived in Astoria for a few years, so it meant the world to find this venue! The entire venue is absolutely beautiful - from the ceremony site, reception area, even the bathrooms and more. We used white linens, greenery, and added the bistro lights to the reception area and it was totally dreamy. Lisa was so thoughtful, attentive, and made us feel completely taken care of during the planning process and especially on the day of. Pricing was very fair and super customizable. Our older guests were able to easily use the handicap lift to access both floors as needed throughout the night. Vendors also had a great time working with staff and the space (We used Petals & Roots, K&R Photos, J&R Videography, DJ Lucas Waters, Drawn Together NYC in addition to the Renaissance team.) For hotels, we had a majority of our guests stay at the Boro Hotel, which is only one mile away from the venue. Would suggest using Ubers/Lyfts for transportation on the day of since parking in Astoria gets a little crowded. Truly was such a gorgeous space to host our wedding!! We are so so happy we chose the Renaissance.

Really nice venue. This little gem is perfect for a wedding. The staff was amazing. Constant hustle the entire time and so courteous and professional. The bartender had a very heavy hand which kept the lines at the bar short. Larry was amazing. When you go there, you have to know Larry. If you need something done, Larry is your man. Make sure you introduce yourself. Food was ok. Appetizers were really good. Dessert was really good. Bathrooms very clean. Lighting and sound were right on point and this venue lends itself to all sorts of possibilities there. Since the ceilings are high there's always a concern about acustics. They've got this right here. Overall, if you have an event, particularly a formal event, this is a great choice vs any of those overdone, cheesy venues you'll find in the area. This place is classy and understated which is what you really want.

My son held his wedding in this place last Sunday (3/19/23). During the cocktail time, I only saw two servers serving cocktail foods and there was no toothpick to grab the food instead it was just napkin. There was less food served not according to what was agreed in the contract and no place where guests can sit. The food served to the bride and groom was also very much delayed. During the meal, the vegetable salad presentation was not good, the vegetables looked soggy and the portion was small. For the main course, the salmon didn’t even taste like salmon and it was three little pieces of fish looking type of food that I had to ask the waiter if it was truly salmon because I thought they made a mistake in my order. It doesn’t taste like salmon at all and doesn’t look like salmon. The presentation of food was poor, the vegetables was so bland, the rice was hard and cold and didn’t taste good at all. Lisa, the Manager, was nice enough to come to my table and offered me another plate if I wanted to because the waiter told her that I complained about the food portion. However, I declined the offer, as I mentioned to Lisa, it’s not just the portion but the taste itself was not good at all. I didn’t eat my food and I guess all of us in my table had the same experience and other guest. The hanger steak was very tiny and hard. Taste was not good either. It was my son’s wedding and I felt so embarrassed for our friends and families. They all went hungry and stopped by the nearest Mac Donald’s. I told my son that the food that was probably presented to them during food tasting was not the same food that they served during their wedding day. It was a terrible experience. My son and his wife agreed, it was not the same taste and presentation at all otherwise, they said they’ll not choose the place. In my entire experience of wedding meals, I have NEVER ever had a wedding meal course with such bad taste of food. I don’t know how my son and his wife ended up @ Renaissance because we live closer to Long Island. They both fell in love with the rustic ambience but they both said had they known that the meal would taste this bad, they would never have considered the place. They paid for open bar but they ran out of Vodka and Pineapple juice so most of the guest cannot have cocktail drinks they want to order. Only serving tequila for the most part. My son and his wife are out of the country but they both said they’ll go to Renaisance as soon as they returned. It was a terrible experience. Everyone went home hungry and angry. There’s no word to express my embarrassment to our guest. I tried to console my son and his wife and told them it was not their fault cause it was not the food that they tasted and presented during food tasting that was served. I have no words for our guest for our...

Where do I begin, I attended a wedding this weekend from 4pm to 10 pm. We got to the venue a little past 2 pm because my husband was the Best Man. I sat and watched the chaos going on prepping/decorations for the wedding. The bridesmaids had to come out and help set tables, etc, groomsmen had to help the DJ and band with equipments. As guests started coming, there was no employees to help direct guests, the lobby was so packed people had to stand outside. I had to tell people where the table for gifts and cards which was in back corner. The pen for the guest book was not working I tried finding someone to get another pen. I had to inform guest restrooms were downstairs and confirmed that they were at the right venue for the wedding. Still no workers at the venue and it was already 4pm. My husband ask a lady with Red hair believed to be the manager for some assistance and she said that was not her job. He had to stand on a chair and yell to the crowd of guests to please go outside, walk around the building to an outside ceremony area. After ceremony guests went back into the venue for cocktail hour. Again no one to direct guests if or when to start heading to the table. Now the food situation, just wow, they had already set salads on the table before guests went to their seat. So majority of the salad was taken and not eaten (talk about a waste of food) after the bridal party was announced, they said pasta will be coming out before entrees. I've been to a few weddings including my own to know a well organized team that will work with the wedding planner to make things go smoothly and bride stress free. When I tell you dinner did not come out till maybe after 8 pm and it was cold, i had Salmon and my husband had "steak". The bride was just ready to start the party, it did not start until about 8:30 when DJ was finally able to play his music and just like that it was time to go. Now I dont know if bride and groom choose not to to do the bouquet and Garter toss but at least they had time to cut the cake. But wait it gets better, time to go and staff definitely was moving fast for that to the point they were throwing everything out no consideration to the favor for guests to grab. Someone had their shawls and other items thrown in the trash thankfully she was able to take it out but was upset they ruined it. It's a beautiful venue but very dysfunctional and unorganized. Valet parking is also a joke, they do not having a parking lot. They are driving your vehicle and finding a spot on the streets for you. We parked our...

STAY CLEAR !!! Look else where DO NOT RENT THIS VENUE ! The venue is beautiful was the only positive. They take advantage and everything is a money scheme. They charge valet parking for street parking when you don't even have a lot which I have called code division and they have no insurance liability which means if your car is damaged you are on your own .Everything else was like a circus the most disorganized venue not sure if this is norm in NYC! The food was cold, late and burned supposed high end food but tasted like McDonalds', given a squirt bottle for the greek dressing ... lack of servers and not very attentive maybe over worked . Lisa there (coordinator) responses as an excuse(we had 4 weddings this weekend or I was helping with things in the kitchen which was a joke isn't that the kitchen staff job ). Lack of respect and integrity to the patrons was rushed out like a herd of sheep and guests belongings like purses, robes etc were thrown out along with all the centerpieces also other wedding decor that wanted to be kept for safekeeping as a memory . There cfo (Irena) plays the bait and switch game when you are looking for wedding venues and when you ask to speak to someone higher she says its GOD. There cfo(Irena) and Lisa blame the wedding coordinator for the circus they created when they were truly were not capable of a wedding this size . The wedding coordinator does not work for the venue nor does she babysit the venue staff or guide them to do there event job duties. There cfo Irena with all the meetings we had was never even there as an introduction . This venue management team refuses to take responsibility for lack of services, supervision rendered and items missing and are playing the blame game on the coordinator.. bride and groom etc. Venue was not equipped to be able to handle the amount of guests for the wedding and were so crowded for the appetizer time frame. There was a major natural disaster with a hurricane in Florida at this time and we had a lot of people not able to come leave there homes and airlines were not leaving planes depart they had no empathy to try to accomodate us in any away as if anyone can predict something like that to happen, there attitude was too bad your problem. There is plenty of physical proof that can be provided .

Legal entitites have been informed of this venue bait and switch and will be reviewing there false contracts of amenities.

As you can see there response at this time has been 3 months since the time of...
