ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE – SHOCKINGLY RUDE MANAGEMENT This restaurant ruined my mom’s 60th birthday. We had a confirmed reservation, showed up on time, and were told—without warning—that they were closed for a private party. No call, no message, no attempt to notify us. After checking other reviews, it’s clear this is a pattern, not a one-time mistake. The woman claiming to be the manager (quietly gave the name “Lydia”) delivered the news with one of the rudest attitudes I’ve ever encountered. Her exact response was, “Your reservation is not our responsibility.” No apology, no accountability, no effort to help—just complete indifference. She genuinely did not care that this was a milestone celebration. This level of disrespect, disorganization, and lack of basic professionalism is astounding. Any restaurant that treats customers this way does not deserve your time or money. I strongly warn anyone considering this place: do not trust their reservations, their management, or their...
Read moreHIDDEN GEM: This is a must try! I have been on two occasions now and both times have been incredible. There aren't many great restaurants in 'West Astoria,' so this is a really nice addition and is now a regular favorite for my wife and I.
The first time I had the squid ink seafood pasta special which was incredible. Second time had the rigatoni buttero--it arrived very hot and fresh, the pasta was perfectly al dente. They start every meal with complementary parmesan cheese and bread (I have to say the bread is horrible, but hey it's free and the cheese makes up for it!). Decent selection of wine at reasonable prices. Total for 2 entrees, an appetizer (the beet with goat cheese salad was wonderful!) and a bottle of wine was under $85, which is amazing! For some reason it's been pretty empty both times we've been, hopefully this will help convince some more people to...
Read moreClassy, welcoming atmosphere at this white-tablecloth restaurant. Service was kind and personable, on the casual side without being overly familiar. The food is definitely Italian. The best wine—meaning, one from an independent company—was the Dalmatian Red : bright, deep. My friend's rigatoni buttero was flavourful and the pasta was cooked correctly. The seafood risotto had a lot of calamari and a good taste. The best part of my mildly sauced veal piccata was the thick rectangles of tender potato that came on the side. Or maybe I'm just not a fan of the pounded texture of escalopes of veal. Best part of the meal, apart from being able to sit and converse ? The kind service, the wholesome atmosphere and the wine. Downside ? The tables are a bit tight,...
