Queens Public Library at Astoria — Attraction in New York

Clean, friendly environment, good for adults and even more so for kids and families. Nice places, furniture including low chairs and tables where kids feel comfortable and can gather around or sit by themselves. Not just books but even toys to keep preschoolers happy. This is smaller than some other nearby libraries but had enough of a selection of children's books for our purpose.

The now "standard" technology of NYC public libraries where checking out and returning books (five at a time) is a breeze. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Harry (I think that was his name) guided me through the process of becoming a member, getting a card, getting it on an App on my cellphone so I didn't need to carry it around, etc. Nice to see that personal attention in busy NYC, that too by city employees!

I use to go to this library. What is interesting here the librarian Gus confuse the Community Library with his propriety. For example if the computers are not used by anybody he did not allow you the right to use the computer. In the NY P Library on 42 street automatically if is not occupied the computer you receive additional time. Here Gus abusive deleted my file from my memory card, and pushed me out at his mercy even in my time. The library spend too much money with 8 personal by day ( since they are 5 present by day) , since are only 10-12 people in the library. They have enough h time to talk on the phone and to harass a people who wanted to use more the computer. I wrote letter to Bloomberg and De Blasio for more founds for the library not to see how Gus and other people hate the customers and use the library only for their job by doing almost nothing. why the hell do some of them look down when someone new arrives? wish it were a bit larger; too. The room between the counter clerks and cpus feel just as tight as Astoria Cafe minus the fees -hour per session before reset is reasonable; just wish it were longer before...
