Slope Pediatrics — Attraction in New York

I’m not one for lengthy reviews, and this is my first doctor review - but this practice is absolutely wonderful! We regularly see Dr. Papageorge, have seen Dr. Frank, and have spoken with Dr. Glaser. From our first visit with Dr. Papageorge, I was very impressed by her thoroughness, attention to detail, and warm approach. Our last sick visit experience was with Dr. Frank, who was incredibly warm, thorough, was super proactive, went out of her way to make sure she wasn’t missing anything, and was terrific in following-up. I am also impressed with how clearly they’re all informed on what goes on in the practice - very unlike most practices, though should be the standard. This is the 4th practice I’ve made a switch to (in the area), and I wish we had come here sooner. My mom was a doctor, but I’m also obviously just very picky about who takes care of my child. The doctors in this practice are substantially more thorough and invested than any other pediatricians we’ve seen, not to mention super patient! The nurses are also lovely and proactive, and the front desk is extremely pleasant (I’d say definitely a rarity these days). This practice has gone severely downhill. We have been bringing our child there to see Doctor Frank for years, but since being taken over by NYU Langone they have become extremely mismanaged and predatory.

In August, our child developed pneumonia, and they refused to see him, forcing us to go to urgent care, where he was misdiagnosed the first time and overmedicated the second. When we finally got an appointment with Slope Pediatrics, they asked "why'd you take him to urgent care?"

More recently, we took him for his regular checkup. We pay out of pocket for his visits and have for years, usually a few hundred dollars. This time, with no warning, they ignored the "out-of-pocket" adjustment and charged us almost FOURTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS. Part of this was a meningitis shot, which they assured us would only involve the cost of the shot itself, but then they went on to add insurance and administrative fees. DO NOT COME HERE!!I WAS RUNNING LATE DUE TO TRAFFIC, MY APPOINTMENT WAS AT 11:30AM.THE FRONT DESK CALLED ME AND I EXPLAINED WHY I WAS BEHIND SCHEDULE.I WAS TOLD ABOUT THEIR 15MINUTE GRACE PERIOD,WHICH I UNDERSTAND EVERY OFFICE HAS THEIR POLICIES.THE WOMAN TOLD ME THE DOCTORS WERE GOING ON LUNCH. AT THAT POINT ,I WAS LITERALLY OUTSIDE THE OFFICE WATING IN A CAB WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD. SHE PUT ME ON HOLD AND SAID I WOULD HAVE TO BE RESCHEDULED TO THE NEXT AVAILABLE TIME OF 1:45PM.THIS MADE NO SENSE TO ME BECAUSE WHY WOULD I WAIT ALL THAT TIME WITH MY DAUGHTER UNTIL THE DOCTOR FINISHED HER BREAK.
