Iâve been coming here for years! Since at least 2016 when I had my belly button ring replaced. I had my septum piercing done in 2017, and several ear piercings in the following years, concluding with my nostril piercing in October 2023 which was done by a very nice young woman, I think her name is Ellie? I did all my follow-ups with another nice young woman, whose name I canât remember, but within 6 months of getting my nose pierced I upgraded to a small silver hoop which ultimately got infected - which btw, I get that happens sometimes! The nice lady I saw, I think she had like red slick-backed hair? Sheâs always made me feel at ease and switched me back to a stud from the hoop - explaining that the base of the stud is long, with a lot of space to allow for healing. She advised that I should return once the infection healed to have the base switched out for something less long, so that the nose ring wouldnât poke out and snag. I moved out of the neighborhood but decided to keep coming back because I have trusted this place for awhile.
Iâm traveling in the next week, and was told by the aforementioned professional that too much movement in the piercing can irritate it, so I wanted to come back and have it shortened. I made an appointment for today (Sunday the 23rd of June) and came in. There was a male professional there who just seemed like he was irritated by my presence in the shop. He barely greeted me and barely listened to my concerns (I wanted to have my hoop put back in as my piercing seems to have healed BUT I wanted a professional opinion, etc.) but he just ignored my questions, had me tilt my head back for measurements, etc.
My biggest concern is that I do not know how well he sanitized the new piece that was placed. He didnât explain anything (as the other professionals I have seen here have done) and was generally pretty gruff. It looked like he took the new piece, put it on a paper towel, and squirted it with the antibacterial solution they use to sanitize jewelry. Iâm concerned because in the past it always seemed like that was a longer process.
Also, when I was seen, he had me standing in the lobby with my head tilted back, and when I came to the exam room, he had me sitting up with my head tilted back instead of laying down, which made it seem like he was in a rush and wanting to get the procedure over with as quickly as possible.
He got to work on my nose, frustratingly trying to get the new piece to seal and not explaining anything, it was just not a nice experience - my husband was in the lobby and heard the clicking of his instruments and was nervous for me because he didnât know what was going on. Iâve had jewelry placed before, so Iâm familiar - but if I hadnât been, it would have been very unsettling.
Iâm a little concerned about this experience and Iâm unlikely to return, I feel a little bit like this establishment is running on their reputation alone.
Updating review to respond to Anna below: Hi Anna, I tipped well because I worked in the service industry for over 7 years, and I tip on the services I receive REGARDLESS because I know artists in your profession rely heavily on tips just as I did. Itâs the right thing to do. For you to imply that my experience couldnât have possibly been that bad, despite the fact that I took the time to leave a review, all because I left a generous tip, is ridiculous. Similar to others in my industry, the way that I tip is more of a reflection of me than it is of the service I received. Iâm glad that you and Anthony came to somewhat of an understanding - I expressed my feelings about the service I received, and you both agreed that it could not POSSIBLY have been that bad and that it sounds like a âmeâ problem. How professional...
Read morePiercer was rude, short, dismissive, snobby, and unwilling to work with my anatomy because my septum was apparently mildly deviated. After talking with him, I knew I didnât have want him touching me at all, septum or not. He couldnât be bothered to be courteous, let alone actually try to work with his clientâs anatomy. Thankfully I know piercers who are experienced enough to work with anatomy that isnât perfectly straight. I just have to wait longer to see them because they actually know what theyâre doing AND know how to speak to a customer without sounding like they would rather be anywhere else. Donât go for a septum piercing here unless you wanna get shamed for your nose being anything less than perfectly symmetrical and being lowkey bullied like youâre in a portlandia sketch.
Edit to reply to ownerâs response:
Even my friend who was with me was icked out by his tone, which maybe youâre used to, but I wasnât. Iâm a nurse, I work a customer service job every day. What you say is just as important as how you say it. Tone is subjective, sure, and he wasnât abusive and didnât yell at me or anything, but he just seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else. He started off by being really weird about the fact that we were 15 minutes early for the appointment. I figured we could just look at the jewelry while we waited. He had finished whatever he was doing with the customers before us when he addressed us, but it was like us being there was an imposition. We werenât saying we wanted to be taken right away, but then he acted like he was doing me a favor by taking me back to âeven see if you can get a septumâ in this really negative âughâ kind of tone. When he told me he wouldnât do it, he was trying to see if Iâd get some other piercing by saying âWell I want to take your money haha so if you want to do something elseâŠâ which I found really tactless and mercenary. Iâm sure you have a recording, but I think a lot is lost in translation when all youâre focused on is what he said and not how he said it. I have no incentive to fabricate this review. I left it because I was really upset and disappointed when I left and I wanted other people to be able to avoid a similar experience. I have since gotten my septum pierced, itâs healing well, is straight, and I had a lovely experience with someone who didnât treat me like a chore. Nice try attempting to...
Read moreI am going to skip all the « I donât usually write reviews but.. » and go straight to the point. I went to have my tragus piercing done at The End is Near two years ago (first piercing ever). The place is clean and the artists use safe practice. I asked for a tragus jewelry and was shown couple of them. Chose one from the one « ok for tragus » as told by the receptionist, had it inserted in my tragus and la vie est belle. From day one after my piercing my tragus had a swollen pimple and looked irritated. I called them and they told me to continue cleaning the area/avoid sleeping on the ear and it should be okay. Mind me I was already doing that but ok. A month later I noticed my skin was « engulfing » the piercing from the back because I could no longer feel the ball at the end. This time I went straight there and effectivement the ball at the back was in my skin, « Oh mon Dieu » ! So the artist I saw that day reluctantly pushed it out of the skin and told me to keep doing the cleaning and etcetera. Six months later, my tragus is not healing and the bump is still there (never disappeared) and no it is not a keloid more like a small bump filled with pus, « beurk », je sais. So I call them again, the receptionist I talked to explained to me that the artist is busy and advised me to keep cleaning even tough I told her I have been doing that, she then explained that piercings may take sometime a year to heal « lol ok » . So I decide to give it time... two years later, 100 spray bottles of Neilmed and 10000 Q tips used, the bump is still there. I decided to go to another artist to have it take a look, he changed my jewelry and two weeks later the bump is « magiquement » GONE. The jewelry I was originally pierced with was not adapted! My review, more like a story time, was supposed to be short but dĂ©solĂ©e. The End is Near sold me a jewelry that was not adapted for a tragus piercing. RIDICULOUS ! Who does that ? Letâs say the receptionist showed me a piercing not adapted for a tragus, so the piercer didnât realized it was not ok or something was OFF? I paid about $230 if my memory serves me right. They just wanted to sell me the jewelry and girl bye. I am very disappointed and will never recommend them. To my fellow amateur de french.. pour faire court nâallez pas dans cet Ă©tablissement câest une grosse arnaque! Sur ce.. La fin...
