If you're looking for a cozy escape in the heart of NYC, Codex Books paired with Think Coffee is the perfect spot. This charming bookshop and espresso bar offers a thoughtfully curated selection of secondhand paperbacks and hardcovers, making it a paradise for book lovers. Whether you’re hunting for a classic novel, a hidden gem, or just browsing, the warm and inviting atmosphere makes it easy to get lost in the shelves. The addition of Think Coffee elevates the experience, allowing visitors to enjoy a perfectly brewed cup of coffee while flipping through their latest find. The ambiance is quiet yet lively, making it an ideal place to read, work, or simply soak in the literary charm. With friendly staff, great coffee, and a wonderful selection of books, Codex Books & Think Coffee is a must-visit for anyone who loves literature and a cozy, relaxed vibe. Highly recommend stopping by for a good read, a great cup, and a peaceful retreat from the city’s hustle! ☕📚✨

Wandered into this tiny little store while walking down bleecker street on a rainy day. The owner (?) was friendly and had a thorough knowledge of the books on his shelves. He offered some recommendations that I'm excited to check out. Lots of secondhand books from well known authors in the western canon, from Gogol to Junot Diaz.

I walked pass by chance of this store. It is cozy second hand bookshop with various kind of books for your selection. I got, Joan MirĂł book, from art section. The shop is not that big but has some space enough to serve people who come visit by chance and on purpose.

For my money, this is the best used bookstore in NYC. By far the fairest prices for what they carry, and they carry a LOT of amazing things. It is true that a couple of the employees have an attitude sometimes, but why am I giving it a 5-star review? They know they have taste, they have integrity in their pricing (it’s always well-researched and competitive with online sellers), and they know their politics. Yes, they are kind of a snobby intellectual hipster used bookstore, but this is NYC and they know their audience. They won’t sell certain provocative titles, certain authors, and certain radical strands of thought. They will always have an audience in NYC and they definitely make sure they retain it. If you’re a self-aware individual, you will know whether they’re your type of people, and if they are, please buy with confidence. I’ve traded my books in with a pretty high level of success and carried out some one of a kind stuff. Many...

AWFUL RUDE TREATMENT FROM STAFF DO NOT BOTHER SPENDING YOUR MONEY HERE. MERCER BOOK UP THE ROAD IS KIND FRIENDLY AND OPEN ON TIME.

I am from out of town and have been trying to get to this spot on my work trips to the city. I usually have very limited time but ended up in the neighborhood this time with around an hour to spare. I stood outside in the cold for 20 minutes past their open time. As I was about to go elsewhere the woman opening (Danielle?) finally showed up and was the absolute RUDEST person I’ve ever encountered. I’d obviously been waiting and she barked at me that the shop wouldn’t be open for a while. Knowing I had limited time I simply asked when she planned to open. She angrily and again RUDELY told me she had to “change her tampon, get this set and let a delivery guy in”. I went to MERCER BOOKS around the corner instead. Go give them your money. Don’t waste your time with this...
