Search for a new barber has ended. I've lived in UWS --off and on-- for ~12years, and been to more than 10 shops -- on W 80th, a few on W 72nd, on W83rd, down near Columbus Circle, a few in the 90s. They all have 4.5 stars. Went to one on Columbus Ave for a couple years, but the stylist left unexpectedly.

Clean. No loose hairs on the floor.

Simple haircut, 3 on the sides. ~30 minutes. Daniel was friendly and not forcing conversation (looking at you, W 80th). His work was thorough and considerate, checking in a couple times and using the dryer to push off cut pieces of hair. The cut didn't feel rushed. He went over the sides a few times. Final product looked good. No dents, no stray uncut hairs. Even. Used clipper to clean the back. And there wasn't a mess of tiny loose hairs on my neck when I left.

$35 before tip, which is a standard that was set during the pandemic. Most shops shouldn't be charging that much. The price feels...

For the last couple of years, I've been looking for a good barbershop to do my beard. I have finally found it. The service is impeccable—the sort of attention to detail and receptivity to feedback that I have been looking for. But no less important from my point of view is the genuinely welcoming atmosphere. Maybe it's just me, but I have often had an odd feeling at the barbershop—as if I had accidentally stumbled into a private club I was not a member of. Nothing of that here. As soon as you get in, you are being welcomed and you feel welcome, even if it's the first time you get there.
