I've been coming to this place for a very long time now. Well over 10 years in fact, but regardless they do keep me coming back for a few good reasons. However, my relationship with this establishment is complicated. On the one hand, I really love many of the small Bandai Shokugan items they get in constantly. You'll find a solid selection of Kirby, Pokemon, Gundam Converge, and all kinds of other figures that are relatively affordable, if a bit higher than they should cost. They often also have items that even Kinokuniya and all other big Japanese hobby stores do not carry, such as the Bandai Tenori Friends line. (Odd, but fun.)

The staff is usually friendly and helpful although sometimes they're not the nicest. On the other hand, a VAST majority of their collectibles have INSANE markups that make zero sense, even by business standards. They charge ridiculous prices for things such as figuarts, Monsterarts, Kidrobot vinyls, Marvel/DC/other superhero items, etc.

One time, I saw some poor schmuck buying a my hero academia Midoriya SHF for their stupid above $80 price tag, and laughed internally. Consumers really don't do research into what things should cost. That one should be $65. Or their silly $100+ DX Nichirin swords from Demon Slayer. DUDE, the Zenitsu one is $30 on Amazon, has been for a while. They want over $100 for it. You're just a moron who deserves to get scammed at that point if you buy it.

Look, Toy Tokyo has a great selection of things but a huge amount of their figures (Banpresto prices be crazy too) and other knick knacks are just so expensive that its not worth buying and getting scammed by them, and instead better to check Ebay or Amazon. Still, while it is perhaps hypocritical, I do enjoy the store and I will be coming back anyway. But just as I do, be extremely wary if you head here to do some hunting for particular items. Chances are, you can find a significantly better deal online or at other stores in Manhattan. I...

I don’t normally even leave reviews but the delivery and attitude of the workers specifically the male with the beard and glasses + male with short bob and tattoos is ridiculous. It’s the matter of how you approach a situation and with those two it was incredibly inappropriate. My friend was told that we weren’t allowed to weigh a blind box by the second employee mentioned, and we complied. However, the first employee mentioned decided to be inappropriate, make further commentary on it after we COMPLIED, and listened. There wasn’t any disrespect even noted nor attitude as the first employee stated to my friend. Every time I come into this establishment I always notice the male workers are completely shitty + rude and it seems like theres a pattern with the disrespect from the male workers. Not to mention they dragged what happened and even involved incoming customers and asking their opinion which again, is completely inappropriate and a way to further aggravate the situation. I’d avoid this place as others have recommended due to the attitude problem from those particular workers. Someone had the same issue before with them regarding the scale and not knowing and to 100% validate the experience yes they were extremely rude LOL. There’s a way you speak to customers and it’s not with attitude. Those two who are working there are a representation of that store and its disappointing that you couldn’t even begin to approach whats not allowed in your store in a respectful manner… it doesn’t take that much to do that, but they showed their unprofessionalism and it was noted. Learn how to speak to people. And another thing I want to mention your majority base of folks who do come in aren’t children either so I’m not sure where that’s coming from but whatever floats this businesses boat. Bottom...

I ordered the SDCC 2019 4 Pack Bundle online and received the shipping box damaged and that damaged 2 of the 4 Pops inside. There were to bubble wraps, no sorter boxes, only 2 thinly paper "protecting" the Pop boxes. I emailed them about it and showed photos of the damages and this is what they said:

"Before we ship any product, it undergoes our quality check and is properly packaged for a safe and timely delivery. It is our intention to provide only the highest quality items to our customers. Upon reviewing your images and details, our quality control department has deemed these creases as new condition and we cannot offer a box replacement. We thank you for your understanding in this matter and truly appreciate your continued support."

It was not properly packaged for shipping because if it at least had bubble wraps or if the Pops were in sorter boxes, there would've been no damage at all or the damage would've been lessen. I know that I am not the only one who received packages like this. Sorry Toy Tokyo but you lost me...

If you are seeking to transform a toy hunt into an experience of nostalgia and discovery, Toy Tokyo may be an ideal destination. This is particularly true for individuals in pursuit of rare or exclusive items. With offerings ranging from Marvel to Sanrio, there is something to appeal to every fandom. Even if a purchase is not made, the visual spectacle alone makes the visit worthwhile. The store, though compact, is filled with visual delights. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and while prices may vary, the selection is generally considered to be well worth the investment. Toy Tokyo offers more than just a place to purchase a toy. It is a place where one might recall their first comic book crush, discover a new artist through a resin figure, or find a perfect tribute to a cherished pet or pop icon.
