My name is Alicie and I had an appointment here on the 14th. I don’t come here often because either I wax myself or I nair (when I’m super lazy) so when I do make an appointment it’s because I’ve let the hair get too crazy and it’ll hurt to do it myself. So I can honestly say I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve been here since I’ve become a client and I’ve NEVER had an issue coming here, in fact I keep them in mind whenever I KNOW things are getting crazy and I’m NOT going to wax myself lol, so maybe this was a one off situation.
So I book this appointment and the young lady wasn’t all that “warm and inviting” just upon greeting. But I understand as a therapist, some days you just want the client to come in, get on the table, get their service and leave. It’s just the nature of the job at times.
I had homework to do so and she did offer me a pillow to sit up which I can understand put her body mechanics in a compromising position but did end up laying flat for her to get the job done properly. The entire time im thinking “wow I could’ve done this at home it would’ve been less painful.” When I started paying attention I saw that instead of pulling the wax back she was pulling up and yes I did also go to school for this so I can make a thorough assessment of technique. Then I knew there were spots she would’ve missed just based on my body position. I’d asked her “do you need me to turn?” And she said no so I assumed this professional has perfected her craft to the point where some positions aren’t needed to get better exposure to the hair. While most of the hair was gone I did have a few small patches that were there. I was supposed to make an appointment to go back Thursday but didn’t have the time. And just as I figured my legs would have the feel of stubble as the hair grows back. Never have I done a wax or gotten waxed and I feel stubble anywhere especially a day or two after I wax as if I’ve shaved or used nair. I religiously do my own Brazilian and underarms and almost forget because of how the hair grows back when it’s properly removed.
Also I’d like to know if the leg and bikini marks have changed because I figured she just didn’t do a whole strip because it was considered bikini…when in the past the ladies have done it and it was fine.
Now because I work in this business (LMT and Director of Hospitality) I understand the nature of tipping so EVERY TIME I go there I would tip the ladies in cash and I’m an “over tipper” $30/$40 on a $70/80 service or even at times dollar for dollar what I pay the establishment just because I have an idea what they’re being paid and I understand how exhausting it can be to “people all day”. I ended up tipping the girl $10 on my card and I don’t generally leave card tips because across the board although we are grateful for tips, we still roll our eyes at card tips. So to say that I was really disappointed is an understatement and even so now because I’ve been feeling this stubble and policy is to go back within 3/4 days. I only mention this because sometimes I read reviews and my first thoughts are “well is this person a difficult client or a no/bad tipper?” My tipping and business etiquette is over and beyond where the average customer is so this isn’t an issue on the table as to why this service could’ve gone this way.
Maybe this was an “off day” for her but I’m really disappointed in her technique and customer service skills in general. This is a reminder to me to stop neglecting my legs and put it on my calendar alongside the other stuff I do. I don’t remember the young lady name that I had on...
Read moreI gave this place a try two days ago for a brazilian and leg wax. I was surprised to see how dirty it was in there. The floors at the entrance had a lot of debris and needed to be mopped. Although the store had just opened and I was the only customer in the waiting area, I attributed the dirty floor to it being a bit damp outside. That was until I saw the actual waxing room. The waxing room looked much worse and had visible dirt and dried up wax all over the floor. I also noticed there was powder all over the counter and the trash can under the table was nearly filled to the rim from used wax strips and paper, so it doesnt seem like the place was cleaned the night before nor that morning before opening. The waxing table didn't look good either because you could see remnants of wax from prior wax services along the left side of the table, which should have been wiped down well. I haven't seen anything like this before at other places. The only "protective" covering on the table was a narrow, very thin sheet of paper to lay on, which really served no purpose since it was not wide enough to actually cover the whole table, so your skin is exposed to the table anyway. I took a leap of faith in hoping that they had sanitized the table a bit, but given how the place looked I should have just walked out.
The waxing specialist was personable but the actual waxing service was disappointing. I don't think the brazilian wax was done well because I have a very prickly uneven bikini area, which means the hair was not removed from the root correctly and only broken off, so now the hair will grow back unevenly in different cycles. This increases the risk of ingrowns, so I'm very annoyed to have trusted this place. It's only day 2 and the hair started growing back! She also missed sections on the back strip so only part of the back was waxed. The leg waxing was a little better, but there are some areas on my legs where the waxer didn't get all the hair and should have cleaned up those spots.
I was unhappy with the service and will not go back again. At a minimum they need to work on sanitation. The reviews for this location are very different on Yelp, so I should have looked at both...
Read moreIn December last year, I was followed by a stranger into the store and was assaulted while all of their employees stood behind the counter and watched and did nothing. Luckily someone walking past the store witnessed the attack and called the police. A week later, since I still have a few sessions left in my package, I called and asked if I can get a refund because I couldn’t go back to the a place where I was attacked. The person who answered the call told me there was nothing she could do and that I should reach out to corporate. She proceeded to give me a bogus email (my email was sent back). I also tried contacting them on their website three times and received no reply. Three months later, I decided to give their LIC location a try after confirming that I could use my package there. After the service was done, they realized the package was location specific and I had to pay out of pocket for the service. I paid and asked them to help me contact ‘corporate’ and see if I can transfer my package to this location. After waiting for days, I called again and was told, again, that I have to reach out to corporate myself (they asked me to Google the corporate office’s phone number or message them in my account - neither of which was possible). All in all, Uni K would send you promotional emails 10 times a day, but good luck when you want to reach out to them, they will be dismissive and make you jump through hoops because all they care about is your...
