8 Must-Visit Archery Spots in the Bay Area 🎯 Experience Something Unique

Installed my strings quickly, but the peep is crooked, yokes are crooked, d loop could nock a hot dog, cams aren’t timed, and the felt was blown off my drop away rest. They also lost the peep that I had mailed in with my strings. Shot about 20 arrows and they are insanely nock high. Needs a lot of tuning now. The guy behind the counter in the wolf shirt was literally complaining how much work he had and behind he was the entire three hours I waited. You work in an archery shop during bow season. The entire rest of the year is your vacation. He tied two peeps while I was there and they were both crooked and high. The people left with their bows. Watching them operate a bow press was painful. The counter top was extremely messy and three people running around trying to restring bows and peeps. My bow was piled on top of another bow and I watched my quiver get scratched and limbs resting against some other persons equipment. I treat my gear like it cost 1,400 bucks for a bow. I expect the person handling it to do the same. Then a screw drops off the table and it’s lost. I had to wait while they found a replacement screw. Now my bow has a random screw in it. Sweet! This should not be a Mathews dealer. If you are used to a shop like Reedys in Massachusetts that tunes world class bows on a daily basis for competition and then applies the same meticulous care and precision while tuning your hunting bow, this is not the place for you. When I get my bow strung, a “setup” is somewhat standard from most bow shops. A hardcore tune costs money. They offered neither. Under qualified. Won’t be going back.

+😎🦆Wayne +👌🏼👍🏽 instructors +🌞😃 Alexander 🍓😇🥓 Roger Shop Pro 🤔🤡😂 clients

Bought my gear here a good experience (spring ‘14) which continued because of continued service after the sale (through spring ‘18)

My shooting was stagnated so I started going to shoot weekly (fall ‘17) saw league forming and shot the formal target for a score of (235 mostly inside the blue ring)

A lesson w Roger and my groups tightened up, a few more sessions of league and my score and accuracy improved. (245 most shots inside the red ring)

Lots of fun chats with some of the highest level of shooters (many went to Las Vegas and other tournaments) More good tips and A LOT of encouragement! More “tune- up” from Roger who has been a true mentor to me and many other archers that come in periodically. By Christmas I had shot (255 and I was decorating the yellow center often) but I was disappointed because... though my 3 shot groups were often touching one or two arrows... they migrated around the target from one visit up to the line to the next.

More encouraging words from the old hands, a few more pointers from Roger and watching what the people who are doing it right consistently do (each time) and in January ‘18 I opened my first visit to the line at league w 9, x, 10 and shot (265 most shots inside the center yellow) I even had 7-Xs ! Thanks to the Zen encouragement of my Pro staff, Coach, and fellow archers.

By the end of the league I had broken 280 in league and better in outdoor practice. I will post a few pics from Black mountain range this years practice. But a golf ball is about 100% likely to be hit with one of three arrows from 20 yards. The chance of hitting the same ball with one arrow is 85-90%.

Improving technique let me shoot the long distance targets outside with no mor concern for loosing arrows.

I enjoy shooting the 55 yd targets now and I understand, see, and believe that the shot is completed successfully while I address the arrow, bow, and target. Hitting a grapefruit at this distance is realistic and I’m improving.

I credit these very supportive people with my improved training and confidence that I could get really good....

I visit this place around twice a week, two hours each time until this Saturday because they did something totally unacceptable to me this afternoon. I just finished my intermediate course here with Coach Tim and it went well. I leant all the basic things I need to know to start this hobby within 6 courses and for this course, I will rate it 5/5, definitely a good choice as a beginner. I like this place so much that I even bought an overpriced bow from there. I know I can get a way better offer online, but I still spend about 200 extra bucks simply on the riser because I know local and especially physical businesses need to make a profit to live. I am serious about starting a new hobby so I also come here for fun and extra practice time besides scheduled lessons. From the very beginning, they always told me all the lanes are first come first serve (except the scheduled course). It means even if I have to drive 25 mins from home or 1 hour after work during rush hours, there is a chance I cannot get a lane. I do not like it but I respect it since it’s fair to everyone. This Saturday I went there around 2PM, after shooting for 45 mins, I heard someone called and made a group reservation. Soon the staff here told me that I have to leave in 15 mins because now they have a group reservation and need my lane for them. This is ridiculous since, first, I came here way earlier than their “reservation”. How can they even allow them to schedule for a lane that I am taking? Second, nobody even walked up to me and asked me how long I would like to stay before they made the decision. I can’t believe how short-sighted they are. They are willing to kick out a frequent customer who already spent almost 2k dollars within 2 months for a one-hour length eight-person group. Congrats on your today’s income, good luck with your future profit. I hope everyone reading this can think about this whole thing. What I think right now is: If they can kick me out for one ridiculous reason, they can kick me out with another one and they will be fine with it. If they can kick me out today, they can kick you out tomorrow. Thanks for ruining my...

this review is long overdue but it seems other people are still having bad reviews so i’m writing this now. note this was 7 years ago, and im 21 now. i walked into this store alone just needing half a dozen carbon fiber arrows. the person behind the counter must have recognized i was alone without parent supervision and proceeded to upsell me to a dozen carbon fiber arrows, a sight, peephole, arrow rest, d loop, and a release totally over $200. obviously he can’t be at full fault because i did pay and maybe i knew what i was doing.

But he clearly didn’t when installing my parts. he tightened the sight so hard on my oneida kestrel that some of the paint came off, so when i took it off, its no longer flush. he didn’t tighten the arrow rest enough so that the rest would just flop after a few shots, cut the carbon arrows too short, gave me a feather fletching + whiskerbiscuit combo (ruined the fletchings almost instantly and some came off). also a small note, maybe he didn’t know, but he gave me the smallest spine, lightest arrow which is the opposite of what almost all oneida bows call for.

they also didn’t let me shoot any arrows and didn’t adjust the sight.

if you’re questioning why i remember this so vividly, i had to cough off $200 using my brothers visa gift card that someone gave him, and my mom found out with a long talk. if you’re wondering why i wrote this so late, i genuinely forgot until i started thinking about my bow and how it got damaged.

hopefully this place has changed, but consider this a warning. every item you can buy from here, you can save a lot of money by looking up free information and buying parts online. i’ve never shot here but i wouldn’t even shoot here since there’s a free outdoor shooting range somewhere nearby chabot space center.

i’ll add photos of the damage when i can. i did throw away the d loop, sight, peephole, and arrow rest. they were all very useless since they didn’t set it up and gave me a...
