I bought my wedding dress here in January 2021 and had a wedding planned August 2021. I asked multiple times if this was enough time to get the dress in and altered, they assured me it was. They took all my measurements and told me which size to order, I did and signed a contract agreeing to the size based on their measurements. I received an email in Feb 2021 saying my expected ship date was end of July. I emailed back asking how this would work if my wedding was August when they said I should plan for 3 months of alteration work. They quickly replied and said oops that should be June- still not enough time for alterations that they suggested. Due to Covid, my wedding ended up getting postponed but they didn’t know that. I picked up my dress in July, I was annoyed at their customer service and opted not to try on the dress at pick up as I had my own seamstress I was planning on using anyways, my mistake. I tried on the dress about a month later and it was way too small! I 100% believe they ordered me the wrong size or took my measurements wrong. They told me I was between a 2 and 4 and to order up to a 4, I didn’t think I would have any issues with the sizing. If I had changed in size significantly I wouldn’t be writing this review but I am pretty steady in my size and did not change, especially not to make the dress significantly too small on my rib cage. I looked back at my contract and there was my signature and initials all over it agreeing to the size I ordered. Lesson learned, always try on the dress at the place when you pick it up! I was just so annoyed already with their timing of the dress shipment and their overall customer service I didn’t want to deal with them anymore. The only good thing I can say is the girl that actually helped me pick out the dress was very kind and personable. I can’t recall if she was the one that took my measurements but who ever it was did not take the time to look into this dress manufacturer to see how they ran or size me correctly. I paid so much for this dress and my seamstress had to tear it apart to get it to finally fit me. When I found out that store were opening I called pure bliss to make an appointment to come in with my maid of honor, 3 bridesmaids, grooms mom, my mom, my nana, and two aunts. (9 potential sales). I made a bubble and bites appointment so that we didn’t feel stressed being around another people since we had some high risk people of contracting covid coming with us. When I called to make the appointment I asked what the cancelation policy way, due to a pending surgery with my unknown date because of covid. The lady on the phone kindly told me that they prefer If the appointment is canceled that we reschedule, but with everything going on a cancellation would be fine. She then stated that she would need a credit card to hold the appointment. The next day when I went on my credit card statement I was charged $355. Two weeks later I found out that the surgery was going to go through and then I would need to cancel the appointment. I called and tried to explain to the rude woman who answered the phone The circumstance regarding my cancellation. She stated that in order to get my money back I would need to come up to Newburyport and she would have to slide my card through the credit card machine for a refund. I explain to her that I live in the Boston area and that it would be an inconvenience. She then stated that she could send me a check but it would be minus a $50 cancellation fee.This place is clearly a rip off. At a time like this you would think that they would be begging for sales, especially when I told them I would be bringing nine people. This really aggravated me.
Right after I cancelled this appointment I heard back from the ultimate in Peabody, who was immediately willing to assist us .They offered to shut down the store and we could bring in our own champagne and snacks while we shopped. They were so helpful and had an employee for each one of my nine guests. They do not rush us and not charge us anything for their services. All nine of my family members got a dress that night. For starters their hours are very scattered, and don't bother leaving a voice mail because they wont return your call. Our party came in two separate groups. The first round of girls found a couple dresses they thought would work and then advised the rest of the the girls, me included, to make the long ride to try the dresses on as well. We made an appointment to come try the dress on. The manager was less than enthusiastic and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. Turns out we loved the dress and were 90% sure we going to get the dress, we just needed to finaliz our decision with the rest of the party. The manager said she wouldn't take our measurements until we purchased the dress, which is rude. We convinced her we were sure we would by the dress but didn't want to make another trip there to simply get our measurements, she huffed and puffed but finally took our measurements. To make this long story short we placed our orders via phone, as we needed to have our order in by 5/15 (Friday). I tried calling Wednesday (but they are closed) to tell them that the wedding was cancelled and we NEED to cancel the order. When we finally got in touch by noon on Thursday, the manager had ZERO empathy and took less than one second to decide that we were SOL! Really??!!?? less than a week later, its obvious the dresses weren't even started yet! I called the Vendor myself to see if they could cancel the order, and very kind lady was sympathetic and explained that it was out of their hands and they would try to contact Pure Bliss to see if they would stop the order an refund our money as our dresses were not in production. Needless to say this heartless and money hungry company refused to refund and now I will be stuck with a dress that has no purpose in my life, and will be next to impossible to resell.
