We are staying at the Port of Newport RV Park & Marina in the Annex section of the park. This is a no frills section that offers full hookups in the original RV park. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the right park for you. If you're looking for a more affordable place to stay near the beach or marina, this just might be for you.
Keep in mind that this is an older section of the RV park. This portion of the RV park has its pros and cons, but it has all of the basic amenities that are needed while camping in an RV. There are large paved spots across the road in the main park if gravel is an issue.
The Annex is situated next to the Motel 6 in Newport. There are multiple RV sites that are on dirt and gravel lots. The large boulders separate each site from one another. There is one building with 2 single and secure showers/toilets. There is only one entrance/exit in the park as the other is only for maintenance or emergency vehicles. Laundry facilities are located in the main park. The cost to do laundry is $2.50 per washer and dryer. They use coins, and coins can be purchased in the office or the coin kiosk on the wall. The washers and dryers that we used worked very well.
The host is friendly and attentive with any questions and/or concerns. She checks in with the campers if there is anything that they need to know. The host couple can be seen cleaning the park, cleaning and prepping RV sites for the next camper, and making rounds through the park. I only spoke with one of the hosts, and she appears to be very welcoming.
The bathrooms are fairly large with plenty of space to move around. The showers are roomy with nearly unlimited hot water and excellent water pressure for an RV park.
The RV sites are large with plenty of parking space in most of them. Some sites are much larger than others. The sewer hookups are backwards on our current site. I recommend bringing a longer sewer or water hose just in case. We had to run our sewer hoses underneath the trailer, and we luckily already had two hoses on-hand. The water hookup is missing from this particular site, but we used a splitter attachment with our neighbor and had no issues. We still have decent water pressure.
This park offers Wifi and cable. We did not utilize those services as we already have our own wireless internet, and we only use streaming services. Cellular phone service is good for both Verizon and T-Mobile.
The park is within walking distance of the aquarium, marina, Rouge restaurant and brewery, and various walking paths. There is a small bait and tackle shop with snacks and misc. items in the main park near the marina. It is close to several shops in the area. A short drive over the bridge will offer an array of restaurants, grocery stores, gift shops, and beach access.
Overall, our stay has been pleasant. We had to make a few minor adjustments during our stay, but we never endured any major issues. We extended our stay, and the process was easy. The campers appeared to be respectful of one another, and the park was quiet at night. The park does need a little TLC and a few updates, but we would love to return for a future stay.

Read moreWe ended up staying 5 months in the Annex! The monthly prices during the off season are way overpriced. During the on season even way more overpriced. If staying here again I would definitely choose the Marina side instead of the annex. I would say any place not backed up to the Motel 6 would be great! Motel 6 couldn't get a handle on the bridge workers who were staying on a basis. They enjoyed loud parties, get togethers, grills on the balcony and you ended up with a yard full of cigarette butts, leftover food containers and food! Regular visitors were the same. There really is no privacy between your RV and the motel or your neighbors for that matter. Our neighbor was a spot & parking hog, they have been there for a few years not (not sure how that works when the limit is supposed to be 6 months). Not all spots have 50 amp so I am sure the spots are limited. If I had to stay again it would be on the east side of the annex. When it rains it gets very muddy and potholes and it becomes difficult to park your vehicle without causing ruts and they become deep ruts because there is no where else to park. Not sure when they last filled the pot holes. It seems like the codes are handed out freely by previous guests as they have to change the bathroom codes often. The laundry room hasn't changed in over 6 years, same machines and same dirtiness. Expensive to wash and dry. The internet has not improved at all it is almost non existent. The channels you get are very limited in the annex and you do not get what is advertised. So in the 6 years since we last stayed long term the prices have pretty doubled and the service has not improved to match the services. The views in the Marina are outstanding the annex still leaves a lot to be desired. You things with the amount they charge they could have greatly improved the annex! Hannah has some great customer...
Read moreFine place to stay but we had more issues that we’ve had on the rest of our coastal trip. Almost $40/night to stay in the dry camping which is just a parking lot with large spaces. The price is fine but it’s interesting that you have to pay $1.50 for a 5minute shower on top of that.. Not bad on a Wednesday night as we got a spot away from others. We did come in late and use their ticket service but you have to call the after hours number to get the bathroom and WiFi codes and they have to come out and see that you’re physically in the spot and have your ticket in order to get any of the codes. Our biggest problem was that security came and knocked on our window in the middle of the night saying we couldn’t camp there in our suv, after the camp host had already been around and “checked us in” without saying anything about the suv, and we had the check in ticket in our front window. He ended up saying he’d let us stay for just the night since we already paid and everything but basically was saying we should find somewhere on the street instead. Well when we checked out in the morning we talked to another employee who said that the dry camping is just fine to have a suv so idk what disconnect there is there.. side note the restroom sinks are annoying to use as you have to hold the lever down for water to flow so it’s difficult...
