La Stalla was recommended to me on the local Facebook group when I was in search of cannolis. I had pretty high expectations walking in because there was so many people who voted for La Stalla.
Unfortunately, not only wasn't I a fan of the cannolis... I also did not have a pleasant experience with the staff. I came a little over an hour closing, and when I went to the counter, to order the cannolis, I asked the staff what some of the desserts were in the display. He seemed to have rolled his eyes at me, and kind of huffed and puffed. It struck me odd because I generally was just curious on what I was looking at since they were no signs indicating what desserts were what. Anyways, I placed an order for a six cannolis, and he seemed to really have an RBF the whole time and didn't even smile once or say thank you or have a great day or anything at all.
I understand if you're having a bad day, because I also work in the customer service industry, but the attitude and lack of hospitality really made it an awful experience for me and drove the experience that I had.
The cannolis that I received seemed really stale and bland. I'm not sure if I got the last batch that's been sitting out all day.. but I truly didn't enjoy it! Neither did anyone else in my family. I wish I could have some more positive things to say, but I wish the experience would have been a little bit better.
Maybe I'll come back again in the future to give it another try, but as of right now, I don't think I'll be stepping in for...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting, and definitely won’t be the last! Last minute, I found myself holding a birthday party at my house, and needed to pull it together in a day (my moms birthday party was supposed to be on Saturday at my sisters but we had a snow storm, and moved to my house on Monday). I bought stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer- best I’ve ever had, chicken parm - delicious, tomato and mozzarella salad - I imagine was delicious since there wasn’t any left for me to try, and none left on anyone’s plate. I also got frozen cheese tortellini and marinara sauce. Everything was incredible. My family kept on raving about the food. This helped me for a small dinner party, however, I’ll definitely come back for nights I don’t want to cook dinner. There’s such a huge selection and everything looks so good! Customer service was also excellent!!! Thank you for making my day so much easier!! The only thing that would have made it even easier, is if reheating directions were on...
Read moreI was visiting Newtown for a vacation and found this place recommended to me by the host in the house I rented out. It was an interesting grocery place to be in. It was like a regular market you can buy Italian products like dried pasta, sauces, snacks, etc. But there was a deli section in the market with pre-made Italian food sitting on hot plates. I bought a few to try and they were delicious! Coconut shrimps, Eggplant stuffed with ricotta and prosciutto, and mushroom stuffed meatballs. I also bought layered cookies (or cakes?), macaroons, and tiramisu. They all turned out to be delectable! I was satisfied with the haul, but when all the combined items turned out to be about $50, I was a little shocked. It's fine though, I expect to be paying a lot when I go on vacations! The only downside was the service. One of them was very nice, but the others were very indifferent. It's excusable since I worked in the food service industry for a while. I just hope they're being...
