I go here 2 times a week around close with my service dog because there are no crowds or long lines and it's easier to navigate as a disabled person. Today, there was a new woman I've never seen before at the self checkout who was clearly withdrawing or suffering from serious low blood sugar. I say this because when my self check out register didn't recognize a bar code on a piece of fruit (which I just looked up by name, no problem) the red light on my machine came on. I kept checking out my groceries, expecting an employee to come fix the issue before I paid as they normally do, but instead an employee named Erica just shoved her way onto my screen and started pushing buttons, literally ripped the receipt out and said "none of those rung up, you have to go to another line". She never said can I help you or I don't think that machine will let you pay, or addressed me with a hi or ask me to let her see my screen, just got angry...not sure at me or machine because nothing was wrong...but I moved to the line she pointed me to anyways. The whole time I waited in line she yelled ACROSS the checkout section at me, to the point that i asked her not to speak to me that way. She was completely inconsolable, waving her arms around and marching across the section like a crazy person until I said "I'm embarrassed for you, throwing a fit like this at work." She absolutely lost it yelling "no you're throwing a fit "and even tho I was calm and had my voice down, it was like watching a toddler throw a tantrum. I made sure to get her name, and Annie at the checkout line helped me quickly and told me who to call tomorrow to file a formal complaint. Candy also saw the whole thing and tried to explain to Erica that my machine was working fine (the green light was on the whole time I waited in the next line, it was clearly fine and I could have just paid and left without the whole charade). I don't know how a deranged tweaker like that got hired here because the people who usually close are kind and helpful but I don't feel comfortable going back knowing I might be attacked and have a scene be made by some kind of melt down by an employee that clearly has nothing to do with me. Publix definitely doesn't hire people like this, and I'd rather pay the higher prices that have anxiety every time I need to go to the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreExtremely frustrating experience. We are on vacation here with our whole family and we were purchasing alcohol. All of us were over 21 except my foster daughter, who is a minor. They refused to sell us alcohol because of their policy. You canāt buy alcohol if a minor is present, even if they didnāt touch it. The cashier was extremely rude and disrespectful in communicating this to us. Everyone around us was shocked and talking about how rude she was. Some other customers even advocated for us. My brother and his wife are a different family group and had a whole different cart. They asked if they could purchase because theyāre separate from me and my foster daughter. The lady refused. My brother left to see if another cashier would be willing. Unfortunately my cashier was actively calling security and other cashiersā¦. Tracking my brother while I was standing right there. It was so unnecessary and inappropriate. The security guard was really kind in explaining the policy to us and apologized for the inconvenience. We were baffled why the policy couldnāt have been outlined to us in a way that was kind and respectful. Also baffled in general at the stringent nature of this...
