IN STORE EXPERIENCE = I shopped for this chair with my daughter's help, and we were left entirely alone until we asked for help. I tried every chair in the store. Then we asked for specifics re:fabric choices, differences in features, this was clarified, and prices around this. However, never told delivery was at least 4 months from purchase till signing the order form. I was charged 1/2 up front.
DELIVERY TIME = was extended to 6 months... I found out by calling to see if the date could be moved up [due to my knee surgery being moved up]. Only received a few updates - after I called a few times.
DELIVERY EXPERIENCE = two friendly nice young men set up the chair, quickly, efficiently - they brought it in 2 pieces [not in plastic] and connected the top/bottom and then battery pack, plug in. After they left I saw a light semi-scrape in the fabric, but the warranty info they left me does not cover this. Plus I have no intentions of waiting longer. Not sure if it was like this before they carried it, or a mar from prior to their handling.
CHAIR QUALITY - This is the most comfortable and sturdy chair I ever sat in, much less owned. I suffered through recovery on a cheap online purchased armchair - legs bad, 1 off propped up on books...so I wish I'd been able to have it this new chair sooner. However, I continue to need elevation and takes up less width and length space than my old chair and hassock. As I said, there is a light mar in the fabric on chair back. However, the fabric still feels sturdy and soft as it did in the store. It is only noticeable when next to the chair - not across the room. It does look much darker to me than as ordered, but no smile fabric here to compare - and note warranty does not cover slight differences. My room is somewhat darker than the store. I LOVED the fabric swatch in the store - and there was an entire couch in it, to see properly. There was not much in my desired range of color choices - though still better fabric and color than most. The chair feels solid, but it is not too heavy to move its room position. The delivery guys placed it for me, but I slid it over my carpet a bit to line it up closer to a table with no problem or strain. Something I didn't;t try in the store.
CHAIR CONTROLS / MOVEMENT - Easy controls on outside right, easy to reach and use. I preferred the look of the inside arm controls, and easier to see - but felt awkward to reach. The Elevation system should be clarified - it IS best form in not bending at knees [which is bad for knee recoveries],and into a nearly flat extension to stretch out / nap. I literally fell asleep in it the 2nd time I sat in it. However, it does not elevate your knees or feet above the heart. To do this, an extra bolster or pillows are needed. My method = Using my wedge bolster with a handle [bought elsewhere] - set it on the floor in front of chair. Sit on chair with legs over this, then lift while holding carry loop to elevate the bolster along chair / leg lift. I opted for a battery pack to use less overall electricity and be able to use it in an outage. It simply unplugs and slides under the chair.
CONTROL FEATURES = I am only 5'3". With back problems, I thought I would want one of the chairs with lumbar support control. However, they were not set right for my frame, I guess. This chair felt way more comfortable and supportive than those other chairs. The head rest control is a problem when short in all the chairs - it can push your head wrong when sitting up. However, this model fit the best without changing it, and I discovered it can be adjusted just a little to benefit when fully back, but not...
Read moreFour months ago I purchased one king and one queen Berkeley ergonomics euro mattress from fly by night. When the mattresses were delivered and the plastic bags opened by the very nice delivery people a strong odor was released. I called the store about it and they said it would go away in a few days and that the warranty did not cover smell so they wouldn’t help me. Luckily I had a spare room with an old mattress to sleep in. The smell did not go away so I called a week later and they said put some fans on them and it was probably because the warehouse had been very hot over the summer. I had two fans on it around the clock for two weeks and the smell lessened but is still there when you lie in bed and also still fills the room if windows aren’t left open. I also contacted the manufacturer who basically told me I was on my own as well. I guess I should not have assumed that an all natural mattress wouldn’t emit odor. My main purpose in writing this review is to warn others that want a mattress that does not off gas. The mattress is comfortable and fairly well made. I am also offended by how little fly by night cares about my dissatisfaction. I thought shopping local would give me great service. I shouldn’t have assumed...
Read moreThe store caries very beautiful and expensive furniture. I bought several things there throughout the years. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that their customer service is really bad after the purchase is finalized, and now I only visit it when I want to check some ideas for my home, and I purchase things elsewhere. Some years ago, I bought a king bed and a mattress there. After two nights, we realized that the mattress had not been a good choice for us. We went back to the store to discuss our options, and we learned that we had no options. They basically said "tough luck". When we mentioned that all mattress stores in the area (and online) have some sort of return policy to help their customers find the appropriate products and have a good shopping experience, the lady pointed to a small sign behind her that said "no returns for mattresses". Obviously no one showed us that sign before we paid for the mattress. As a customer, you feel like an idiot for having spent your money at the only store in the area that treats you like that. I wish I could support it, but "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." I do not...
