Filos used to be one of our favorite places to eat when downtown, so after the remodel, we were interested to see what the inside was like. In summary, we’re not coming back due to the remodel. It used to be a very bright space that felt open and fun with the paintings on the walls. Now there’s a giant wood wall that divides the space in two with a walkway and a seating area. It’s now crushingly claustrophobic, and that’s before mentioning that besides the fake plant wall (which further shrinks the space), everything, including the ceiling, has been painted black. It’s crushingly dark in there. There’s nothing to indicate this is a Greek restaurant anymore, it just looks like it’s trying too hard to be a trendy bar or something. There are a ton of artsy lights in these basket-like things, but they are hung so low that we saw another customer who wasn’t even tall hit their head on one. Again, it adds to the claustrophobia. The new, small seating area is cramped and is absolutely not stroller or wheelchair accessible. A customer with a wheelchair was there when we were and they had no choice but to sit at the first table right at the opening to the seating area, as there was no room anywhere else. Whenever anyone needed to get by, he had to move, which wasn’t fair to him. We had a stroller with us, and all of the maneuvering to get out, I got stuck behind, so instead of making this other customer move more, I crawled under the new terrible dividing wall, which had like 1.5 ft of clearance. The food was good, but the rest of the experience was so bad that we won’t be back, there’s other great food in the area when...
Read moreWhy be long time loyal customers only to receive insulting service. Food is decent service is terrible and never do delivery. 4:15 we ordered off FILO’S OWN website 5:30 one third of our order delivered 8 call attempts in, 3 holds, 2 dropped calls later, FILOS blames the delivery agency (who called and blamed FILOs). 5:30 Told food is on its way 6:50 Food hasn’t arrived, still, we say we will come grab it 7:05 We pick up our delivery order ourselves. We ask for return of the delivery fee. THEY RUFUSE! Simply put the entire experience was insulting and inept. Having someone say they refused to refund a simple $5.00 delivery fee for a delivery that was totally blotched and picked up by customer- and to blame a “third party” delivery company was total BS. The company is what you get when you order directly from FILOs own website. Being in service and hospitality ourselves we were baffled. I mean we would think they would want to restore us and even off some comp’ed grub or something to smooth things over. Instead blame and insulting lack of responsibility. We were told, as 8 people were working there, that a manager would call us. Well if they do and they set this right then we can perhaps adjust review. But last but not least, they didn’t even get the order right and things asked for in the dishes were not there. Blah. You can get almost anything offered in other spots downtown with good honest and friendly service. Sorry FILOs you lost long time customers for abysmal attitude...
Read moreI'm not reviewing the restaurant - I'm reviewing food delivery. I ordered a large pizza with six add-ons, and mushrooms on half. The rep on the phone said, so you want the six choices on one half, and mushrooms on the other? I said, no, I want all choices on the whole pizza, but add mushrooms only to half of the pizza. You can guess what we received - one half just mushrooms, the other half with the six add-ons. Upon delivery I called to complain, and the man that answered the phone said he'd send out the right pizza in 15 to 20 minutes, and then proceeded to berate the girl who took the order - I could hear him on the phone. I stayed on for a minute, but then hung up. The replacement pizza never came. Also, the Filos salads were very small for the price, and not so fresh - we threw out the slimy cucumbers, and had to pick through the greens. I work at Smith College and have been hearing great things about Filos' pizza. I have to say after eating the small free cheese pizza that came with the (wrong) large pizza, it's not so great. Florence Pizza or A-One in Florence are both much better. Which is a good thing for us - they are closer which means fresher delivery. And they rarely get a delivery...
