UPDATE 8/31/23: This time I had a chance to better peruse the entire store. One person working the deli- 6 customers waiting- most left. Finally another person helped. Overall, the store selection is average. Nothing compared to Mariano's. The produce & cheese selections are very good. Self check out was an issue again. I registered on the app and had my QR code ready. The scanners weren't set up and I was told to go to the other registers if I had online coupons. I had a constant issue with the register taking my scans. I was told one issue was I was moving my bags off the ledge- I had too many items to bag. I was told the self check out registers were for 15 items or less. I said there was no sign saying that. The girl kept grabbing my items out of my bag and I told her I was in self check out bc I didn't want anyone else touching my items. Overall, service was mediocre at best and the selection was barely there. 8/25/23: The store has only been open a week so I gave 2 instead of 1 star. I got two hot sandwiches and waited a very long time, while the staff joked, laughed and shrugged shoulders when the cashier asked about them. We stored in a cooler part of the house overnight The next morning when we looked at it, it looked darker and kind of âwetâ. We loaded it in the car and took it to the party. When we got to our destination, the buttercream frosting on the cake had slide off and the entire cake was collapsing. This cake was supposed to be 100 percent buttercream. When I reached out to the bakery they blamed me and said itâs supposed stay refrigerated. NOWHERE on the invoice or box did it state it has to be refrigerated. Why would this not be disclosed?! We didnât order whipped frosting, we ordered a buttercream. They are supposed to be room temperature stable. The frosting was drippy and it made such a mess when we sliced it. It kept collapsing and the frosting kept falling off. I have never had a buttercream fall apart like this and we have had 40 plus years of getting...
   Read moreI was super excited when I saw a Caputoâs had opened in Norridge. Sadly, I have found not all Caputoâs are created equal. The fresh made offerings at the Norridge location are âmehâ at best. The deli and bakery are also left wanting. In the end, this location feels like a cheap knock off and lacks the quality and attention to detail when compared with its Elmwood Park location.
Honestly I have found this to be true of most Norridge located shops. They seemingly have the worst service and tend to be very inconsistent. If go to any chain that has a location in Norridge, there is an even chance is will be the worst example of that chain. Not sure if it is the location, the latent pool, or if the ground is sour, but I now go out of my way to avoid shopping in Norridge unless absolutely necessary.
