I was very excited to see a camera store of this caliber open in my community. That said, a camera store does not do Impulse justice. Unlike other camera stores that feel dated in manny ways - including customer service - this is not the case with Impulse.
I was packing to head out to the Tetons and needed a ND filter for a new lens (Tamron 28-200 2.8F) I had picked for my Sony cameras and realized none of my other filters would fit. Flying out early the next morning, I took a chance and called Impulse. They not only had a 5-stop Nisi filter stocked, they waited for me to get there even though they were ready to close shop. How cool is that!?
Once I got there, I immediately felt like I was welcomed and belonged. I got to meet Shane and we started talking about gear, large format storage, clients, projects, etc. Needless to say, I had a blast and look forward to staying in touch with the Impulse crew for not only future gear needs, but for a sense of community.
Other fun fact – I have been following along and rooting for Impulse via social media (prior to my first visit for the ND filter). I was looking for a V-Mount battery plate that is attached to a super clamp so I could use my extra V-Mount battery to power LED lights for one of my video shoots. I called Impulse and asked if they had such a thing but they did not. Instead of that being the end of the conversation, they acknowledged that was a good product idea and said they would look into getting in. Fast forward a couple of weeks when I walk into their store to get the ND filter and they realized I was the guy who asked about the V-Mount clamp, they were excited to show me their new inventory! Again, how cool is that!? If you need something and they do not have it, ask them and there is a good chance they will help you out.
Like I said, I look forward to supporting Impulse and highly recommend them if you need help with your gear and/or are looking for support in the camera gear and content...

For more than four months, I was told refunds were not possible because the item was “backordered.” After waiting patiently, I was then told I would need to pay more money due to “tariffs.” When I refused, my order was canceled without notice.
This is not how to run a business. Accepting payment, denying refunds for months, then trying to raise the price and canceling without warning is not only unfair but also contrary to consumer protection laws. The FTC Mail/Internet Order Rule requires shipment or prompt refund if an order cannot be filled in a reasonable time. The Uniform Commercial Code prohibits unilateral price increases after a contract is accepted. Both Wisconsin consumer law and Massachusetts consumer law prohibit deceptive trade practices.
