Weird that this place has 2 different listings. It's almost like they want to separate themselves from the unfavorable review.
Helmets seemed like they care about safety. Boy was I wrong.
I wonder if there is a safe amount of horses per guides. It seems like there were 20 horses with 3 guides.
This felt like they would add every horse in the area, regardless of safety, just to make money.
BTW, the woman assigning horses, didn't go on the ride.
The only "training" we received was left, right, and back.
Along the way, we learned my horse will buck you off if you have a sweatshirt tied around your waist. As I was wearing a sweatshirt tied around my waist. My horse was shaking and shivering and I asked for help. That's how I found out.
We learned that certain horses should absolutely be together and other horses should absolutely be apart.
We learned this due to horses nipping at each other.
We learned that "riding in the saddle" makes this particular horse upset. Unfortunately, we were currently riding the horse and had no idea what that meant.
The 4 of us heard lots of advice that we didn't understand. "Pull back." All of us or 1 of us? "Right." *Said to everyone or someone in particular? Can't tell. *You are doing a great job? *Move to the right? *Watch for the unleashed dog on your right?
Hours later and we still don't know.
We also learned that the horse my spouse was on (ridden once before, 25 years ago) one of our trail guides felt should NOT be ridden. It was a struggle the entire ride. (Avoid this place at all costs but if you can't, absolutely reject Lacey. )
My 16 year old daughter who was most excited about this, gave her review as "terrifying. "
I don't remember the last time I felt...
Read moreI was taken for my birthday a while ago. The horses seem overworked and tense. Most of the mares were snappy (as usual), but made some of the riders (less experienced) very nervous. Mounting and dismounting was chaotic. The horses were all crammed in a circle and were bucking at each other. I was told to mount my horse while another one’s butt was directly in front of me. It was not okay.
The horses are tied and stand directly in the sun for hours. I saw a few of the horses lay down and try and get cooler in the sand. It was very sad. I didn’t see them get water much also, The guides seemed less than enthused to do their job, and were unfriendly. It would have been a better time if:
1.) There needs to be some shade for the horses. A canopy, maybe. They are hot and tired, and given very, very short breaks.
2.) Mounting and dismounting was safer. Having horses bite each other and buck while there are kids and adults alike getting on is...
Read moreI was extremely excited to try riding horses alongside the beach as I have ridden ponies in the past and had a great experience. When I was riding the horses with family and friends, the horses would constantly bicker and make the rider feel very unstable. At one point, my horse, in particular, had seen other horses turn back (their riders had dismounted) and began to follow them. After an instructor attempted to stop them, my horse began galloping at full speed. I was terrified and the horse would not stop. I must admit that I did not pull as hard as I should've, but throughout the ride, pulling on the horses reins seemed to anger them and make them jolt sharply. The horses were likely tired, and they were all only given a sip of water in between rides. Nonetheless, this experience will definitely be unforgettable, but not for the...
