Today I went to Fresh Fields Farm, 400 Compton St. Since it’s a weekday it was not going to be pack like on weekends. I was very wrong. I only needed a few items so I rushed in and out.
As I stepped out I checked my list and saw I bought the wrong chicken pieces. I went back in and a manger came to assist me. She was very friendly and said they would exchange it, but ask me if at anytime I left store. I said yes but just out by the exit and back in. She further explain they’d exchange it but the packages of chicken would have to be thrown away as that is their policy. I was so surprised and told her I couldn’t allow that and asked to speak to someone above her. Another very friendly lady approached me and explained the same. I thank them but said I would keep the meat as I could not allow them to be thrown out on my mistake.
Driving home I realized Fresh Fields Farm is only looking out for their customers as they do not know me and have no time to figure out if I really did just step out or if I drove around with this meat in the car before coming back to their market and somehow it is now unsafe for other customers to purchase.
So this review is to compliment the Fresh Fields Employees- the cashiers who tried to assist, the two mangers who handle this so calmly and professional , and Fresh Fields Farms for looking out for their customers and making sure the meats and produce we buy are safe.
If you have not visited this place you should, but look at your list before and not after you shop, and please if you do make the mistake I did just take it home and create a great meal without the guilt that the meat had to be thrown away. I certainly...
Read moreI'm making a review because I've seen a few reviews complain about pricing, and that's not my experience. While I believe their produce is average and pretty equal to other places, their meats are great quality, hormones free and cheaper than more groceries I have gone to.
By price comparison, they're about 30-50% cheaper depending on what you're getting. And just when places like Target, Publix and Walmart upped their meat price ridiculously, Freshfields was still affordable and didn't go up 50-200% in meat prices like everyone else.
Are there times when produce and meat price will alter? Of course, you can expect that with economical changes, inflation or demand, but they still remain rather cheap in comparison.
Not to mention that for the hormone free meat, you can't beat the prices. You're paying at least twice as much for that at other places.
Now, in terms of the layout. Someone mentioned it didn't feel like a mom and pop place anymore. Listen, places will change and so will their style. You can't expect a place to remain the same forever especially when customers are seeking for something different. They have to stay in business, and as a marketer with over 12 years experience, I've learned that if you don't change as a business as the collective changes, you will eventually be bankrupt or have to close down.
Be happy that they're still affordable, providing great quality products, even if they do look more modern than before. It's a good thing to change,...
Read moreI have been a customer here since the original store opening. A cashier forgot to put my purchased pack of shrimp in the bag with my chicken. Price was $7.98. I had to drive all the way back after finding it missing. I had my receipt. I spoke to the cashier who said to go grab another pack and he would call a manager to OK it. The “manager” woman came out and told. me that she should would have to review the cameras to see if I really purchased it! The cashier I bought it from was standing right there. She didn’t even ask him. She made me wait 10 minutes before coming out and saying in a loud and accusatory tone that she saw me leave on the camera with a bag….. She basically called me a liar. I was humiliated and was fuming. I told her again that the chicken was in the bag, the shrimp was not. She refused to ask the cashier. I demanded to speak with her supervisor who then had to watch the cameras before reluctantly saying I could take the shrimp. Absolutely horrible customer service. No wonder Publix is the customer service leader. Shane on you...
