Amy's Hallmark Shop — Attraction in Overland Park

My husband is a Hallmark employee in Lawrence, KS for over 20 years. I called this Hallmark Store at Oak Park Mall 2 days prior to our trip to O.P. to verify I could use my husband's discount. I was told I would get a 40% discount with my "wife discount card" and proper matching ID. I went to the store and spoke to an employee. She verified that I would receive 40% off. So we shopped. Then we left to go to a few other stores. We came back and there was a different employee working. We picked out the item we wanted and headed to the checkout. I pulled out my "wife discount card" and my driver's license. Jen then proceeded to tell me that she wasn't allowed to give me the discount, something pertaining to Hallmark corporate personnel only. I told her that I called the store previous to our traveling here (with our 5 day old baby) and talked to an employee when we first arrived and both said we would get a 40% discount. She said she WAS NOT AUTHORIZED to give us the discount. We asked who the manager was in hopes that they would authorize the discount since 2 employees on 2 separate occasions told us we could thus the reason we drove there. SHE SAID SHE WAS THE MANAGER AND NOT AUTHORIZED to give us the discount. I might add that she was not sympathetic at all!! It seems to me that 2 employees not understanding the "Hallmark Employee Discount" is a training issue and not my fault. I can tell you that myself nor my friend will go back to that Hallmark Store. Very frustrating...

I went into the store looking for a gift bag. When walking in, I immediately got looks from the two lady workers as if they were suspicious of me. I picked out the gift bag that I wanted and continued to look around the store for a bit. In the 5 minutes I was there, one of the workers had checked on me twice to see if “I needed anything”. I assume they thought that I was going to steal, especially since I saw them whispering at the front counter. I ran into get a birthday card for my wife. The staff were great and the best thing about the store is they have tap to pay I forgot my wallet I was worried I was like oh man what am I going to do I won't be able to buy my wife this amazing birthday card and the lady at the front desk said yes we have tap to pay and I was like thank God My wife will be so happy when she gets her birthday card so head on down to Hallmark if everything you need...
