Made in KC - Downtown Overland Park — Attraction in Overland Park

I've been a fan of Made in KC for years, back since they were a pop-up in South OP. When they opened their new location in downtown OP, I was excited to have a location nearby. However, the experience there has been less than stellar, and I think shows they have bit off more than they can chew.

I went into the downtown OP location yesterday 12/08 around 3:30 PM and the female employee working was literally slumped over the desk near the cash register and made no attempt to even standup despite the fact there were other customers in the store. I legit couldn't figure out at first if it was an employee or a random bored shopper. I've worked in retail myself and know it's not always the most exciting, but this made me feel uncomfortable since I didn't really want to go purchase something from someone who can't even bother to sit up.

I originally went to MIKC yesterday in search of some Chiefs pull-overs for my nephews and was extremely disappointed in their stock. It seemed like half their merchandise is centered around Taylor Swift. Taylor does not play for the Chiefs, is not from Kansas City- why is so much of the store dedicated to her and cringey "Taylor's boyfriend" merchandise? And it's not just clothing - ornaments, accessories, etc. For a store supposedly celebrating Kansas City, the shift to trying to milk every single penny out of Swifities rather than giving us actual quality KC merchandise is disappointing. The rest of the merch was rather uninspired and could be bought really anywhere, not sure if they're using all their budget to stock up on Taylor Swift items. Overall a really disappointing...

Neat little shop with lots of locally made and inspired merchandise. A little pricy, great for gifts or a splurge. Items range from clothing and home decor to kitchenware and foods. The available inventory seems slimmer than I'd expect, but there's plenty of variety and it rotates often for timely shopping....

Really enjoyed visiting this shop that is right down the store from the physical therapy clinic I work at. I met Diana who was a very friendly worker and she pointed out some good suggestions for gifts. There is a wide variety of KC items which would make good gifts or home...
