We attended Goldies New Years show. While the show was great as always, 2 out of 3 staff members were rude. The grand tier obviously hadnt been swept in a while and several in our area commented on it. A fire door's magnets werent working and rather than hold them open and then close them once everyone was inside they stuck wooden doorstops in them and left them open all night. Had a fire started the firedoors couldnt close.A definite fire code no no.If you want people to attend events and dont want food inside auditoriums, you shouldnt sell it when doors open. To single out 2 when many throughout all levels had beverages if not snack was totally inappropriate. Try cleaning too. Not to mention staff trainging on dealing in a respectful manner with them. When it comes to the fire doors, I realize things happen to doors but with them blocked they can not close to prevent fire spread. Sacrifice what little air flow there was for safety. After 4 years, im not sure Ill return. Ppeople need to know they are safe, no subjected to trash from others, and to be treated with basic human compassion. Being elderly and disabled doesnt mean we dont need human compassion. Closing the concessions and having someone at each to yo police food near a sign saying it cant be brought in helps too. We havent stayed for breakfast in 2 years when there wasnt enough food and once you got it you had to stand and wait for a table since table service was in small room on left side and did not have enough table and chairs ffg it you to get to eat while your foid is...
Read moreThe one other review of the RiverPark Center is incorrect, so I feel the need to offer a closer look. There is a large stage with 40 batons running parallel to the stage, meaning that (in theory) there could be 40 layers of set design from upstage to downstage. There is, in fact an orchestra pit: it is hydraulic and can be raised to form an extension of the stage toward the audience. Outside of the main concert hall (Cannon Hall), there is a large, open lobby, able to be utilized for fairs, children's activities, weddings, and other such functions. Outside of the lobby, there is a very large plaza extended out over the Ohio River, offering a great view of boaters and the Glover Cary Bridge (known as "The Blue Bridge" to locals). Back inside the RiverPark Center, there is also a medium sized caberet theatre, the Jody Berry Theatre. (A caberet theatre is one with audience seating level with the performers, unless risers are put in place.) Behind the scenes, there is a knowledgeable staff. The RiverPark Center is a staple in the developing downtown area and a bastion of art and culture...
Read moreGot there around 4:00 pm with about an hour to spare before the event was scheduled to conclude, but as with most job fairs, most of the vendors had already left for the day. However, there were two troopers who stuck it out to the end and outlasted everyone. Hats off to those hosting the Growing Minds Learning Center booth and Sgt. Keith Stiff at the Daviess County Detention Center booth! Your perseverance and determination did not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated! Seeing you each honoring your commitment, especially in the face of so many who did not by leaving early, was inspiring and refreshing, to say the least. Thank you all for your dedication and efforts. There's no greater service in a community than helping those in it...
