Taphouse Specialty Meat Market — Attraction in Owosso

Was in town visiting and stopped by. My brother and I had a good conversation with the owner of the store. Love the atmosphere, the layout, it was clean and I highly recommend. The quality is the best in that town. I did purchase a Picanha but it was labeled as a Tri-Tip. He said it was from the Top Sirloin, but the Tri-Tip comes from right next to the Bottom Round and the Picanha is the top part of the Top Serloin. We did BBQ it the same way as a Tri-Tip and it came out amazing. It’s the first Picanha I’ve had as I’ve been eating Tri-Tip on the West Coast for years and years as it is a staple in California BBQ. I was in on their grand opening day. Great looking storefront! I purchased 2 New York strips, and a bag of beef jerky out of the meat case. It is amazing. You have to try the beef jerky! A nice selection of pickled items, from the usual olives and pickles, to pickled asparagus to green beans, and habanero pickled items, all in glass jars. Barbeque sauces that had no HFCS in them. I don’t typically leave reviews but I’m a beef snob and this deserved the review. We’ve always ordered beef locally, however it’s a sad day when you run out of steaks. We’ve often resorted to other stores in the area for a beef fix, but the quality just never seems to live up to what we’re used to. These were by far the best steaks I’ve had from anywhere in the area. The quality was 100% worth the price.
