There are a lot of very cute harbor seals, some of which are very friendly, if you swim out here, be prepared to be approached by the curious and sometimes playful seals. Remember to be respectful, and try not to disturb the seals, do not approach resting seals if they stare hard at you, they will bail. BE QUIET, and do not splash around, don't touch a seal unless it touches you. If physically interacting with a wild seal: be as quiet as a mouse, be gentle, act playful or relaxed, seals are very, very quiet and gentle, unlike their California Sea Lion counterparts. if a resting seal does not tense up if you approach slowly, you may get up close if swimming, but still be very respectful, and don't try to pet it unless it slips into the water and greets you. Remember that it is unlawful to pursue, harass, kill, or harm wild seals in any way under the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1971. Sand is pristine and lots of wildlife to watch, cormorants, otters etc. Also a sweeping view north of all the fishing boats in the Monterey Bay, and then there’s the magic carpet of ice plants.
