It is located within a residential neighborhood
Parking is available on the Northside side of street only
The trail is rated as Moderate to Strenuous
While it is easily accessible and close to downtown Palm Springs it is best to start on this trail very early in the morning (6 a.m.) or later in the afternoon (5 p.m)

Read moreThe trailhead has a small area for parking. The first part of the hike is multiple switchbacks, so you gain elevation rather quickly. I saw a lot of reviews that listed this as a difficult hike, my 4-year-old daughter did just fine so if you are as athletic as a small child you will be ok. If you have bad knees this might not be a great hike for you. Once you get up the switchbacks there is a small peak that you can climb up that gives you an amazing view of the valley below. I enjoyed this hike and would do it again. Perfect little hike if you are in the area and want a great view of the valley without having to work too...
Read morePeaceful hike with beautiful city views We got the North Lykken Trail recommendation from the Palm Springs Visitor Center as we were looking for a moderate hike with good views, and it definitely delivered. The trail was peaceful and quiet—we were alone the whole time, which made the experience even more special.
The scenery is beautiful, with a stunning view over Palm Springs once you get a bit higher. We didn’t complete the full trail but hiked for about an hour to a high point and back, which was perfect. A great option if you’re looking for a scenic and not-too-crowded hike...
