It's been 3 years since we have visited this boutique hotel and we were in much need of an adult's night away from the kiddos to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Last minute we booked a room for Sun - Mon at a reasonable price. There were quite a few rooms to choose from and they all have such unique character that it made the room selection hard. In the end I chose the Sedona room. (FYI when you book they take the entire cost up front.)
Upon arrival we realized there were a couple changes since the last visit - lobby, additional rooms and pool, renovated rooms. There was a lobby to check-in, be mindful that the door walkway is low so if you are tall, duck so you don't hit your head. We were greeted by Avalon and the check in process was fast. She escorted us to our room, provided a few helpful instructions, and then let us settle in. We changed and headed straight to the pool. The hotel had low occupancy that night so we were able to enjoy the pool all to ourselves. We spent the rest of the afternoon into the evening into the pool, enjoyed our hot tub on our private patio, showered and grabbed dinner downtown. When we returned we went for some night swimming as it was still very warm out and the pool was refreshing and relaxing.
The next day after sleeping in until 930, we were about to spend about 40 min in the pool before we had to shower and check out. We were able to check out the new rooms and pool that were added to the resort. Now we have an idea of where we want to stay next.
Pros: -Beautiful rooms with unique character and decor - every suite has a patio and hot tub -Free WIFI, Apple TV, and complimentary bottled water in the room -Adult's only boutique hotel with 2 clean pools - beautifully landscapes and decorated perfect ambiance for R&R, romance, and very peaceful. -Great customer service from Avalon -Additional amenities available at an additional cost (in room dining and massages) -Complimentary fruit infused water outside -24/7 pools -Proximity to downtown Palm Springs
Cons: -No on-site dining (so you'll have to bring, order, or go get), however there are plenty of places within walking distance. -The shower in the Sedona suite had really low water pressure and took forever to warm up. Also our hot tub jets were weak but nonetheless we enjoyed having one to get into.
My only other feedback is the check in is 4pm and check-out is 11am. Staying for 1 night I feel like we didn't get to enjoy the resort as much as we would have liked. I realized these times are representative of many hotels however there are a handful of rooms here compared to other hotels so I would assume there could be some flexibility on the check-out check-in times. We were notified at 3pm that our room was ready but it was hard to take advantage of the hour early check-in being we live an hour away, so advance notice of early check-in would be great when available. We asked for a late check-out and our luck we had someone book our room so we had to be out by 11am. Although we were offered to enjoy the property longer without a place to shower it just doesn't seem feasible. My recommendation would be to have a small hospitality suite that guests could shower in if they wanted to stay a little longer.
Overall we enjoyed our short visit and really do love this place. We'll definitely be back, hopefully...
Read moreService was great, place is cute, private hot tubs serviced daily - the cleanliness of the rooms and tub and pool put me at ease right away. Our room, the Kasbah Suite has an incredible, private outside space and I'm pretty sure THE best bathroom. My love and I have sensitivities when traveling, but also worked in hospitality so we're understanding about what we can expect. Grounds: Excellent location. Very inviting pool and lounge chairs. Infused iced water, incredible view of the mountains. Private from walk-by traffic. Service: All staff we encountered were very friendly. We didn't do much interaction after our initial checking of the "tech" and needing a remotes tutorial. We didn't end up watching TV, but there's an apple box, a dvd player, basic cable. etc. - very customize-able. Staff agreed it feels a little ridiculous, but it was good. My home remote situation isn't any better. Everytime we came across any worker, all good. Kasbah Suite: Tucked a little around the corner away from the pool. I think this is one of the smaller indoor spaces (plenty big for 2) and one of the larger patios. It was perfect for us. In the main space: big bed, a little seating area, closet, small fridge and a good little bar set up including blender. Next time I'm playing around with more cocktail recipes. Good acrylic stemware for drinks in the jacuzzi and real mugs for morning coffee. Bathroom is probably half the entire indoor space and awesome. Double sink, huge glass shower, single person jacuzzi tub, full length mirror, private toilet. The house shower gels, salts, shampoo, etc. were nice. Direct access to the patio from the bathroom or the french doors from the main room. I liked you could see the hot tub from the bed. We spent most of our time on our private patio on the couch and in the hot tub. Inside, the bed was comfortable, not super special. I slept great. Linens are a tough area for us. The intense smell if the laundry soap is unbearable. I can taste it. I prefer when clean smells like nothing and all the plants and flowers and fresh air (and my own lotions and potions) are enough. The Rossi is not alone here and we don't have allegies or severe issues, but if this is one of your sensitivities, bring your own sheets and pillows. The only other negative we had was the various motor noises. When the combos get working right - this tub, that air conditioner, their jacuzzi - there was a little reverb thing happening that got our head spinning at first. It wasn't constant and after a few hours we got used to all of it except the magic combo which only happened occasionally. There are nice climate control options in the room, access to music and plenty of other white noise options to help. Overall I LOVED the Rossi. We walked around town and visited favorite spots. (The Kaiser will deliver food to your room or pool and there are many other amenity options we did not take advantage of this time). We went for a hike to see the wildflowers and waterfalls. We spent a lot of time enjoying each other's company in this private getaway space. The value for the money worked for me. We...
Read moreMy husband and I are both educators, and we have been going to Palm Springs every year forever to celebrate the beginning of summer break. We’ve tried at least 5 or 6 different places to stay and none of them have hit the completely “perfect” note, until we discovered Talvera. It is a truly magical place in every possible way. ||The exterior is very understated and we’ve passed by it a dozen times without even knowing it was there. Last year we were fortunate enough to see a couple going in the nondescript entrance and asked what it was. They raved about it so much that we followed them inside the secure property, and our minds were BLOWN!!!||It is a gorgeous, tranquil setting rich with beautiful plants, lush landscaping, upscale furniture, and an off the charts atmosphere! We met the absolutely delightful manager Joannie and she showed us around the breath-taking grounds. We were even able to go inside one room which was not yet occupied and it was every bit as gorgeous as the surroundings. To say it’s “nice” is such a complete understatement. ||There are two distinct areas and two delightful pools. On one side of the property are a majority of the beautiful rooms surrounding the pool, and most of the guests gravitated to this area. Soft music filtered through the property and the entire feeling is very relaxing and as my husband said, quite “zen”. On the other side are only two gorgeous rooms and a pool, and this is where we chose to stay. It is so private, peaceful and an ideal setting for us, as we just wanted to relax together and enjoy the loveliness. ||The charm of Talavera is definitely enhanced by the AMAZING employees Joannie, Litzy, and Carlos. They are all 3 incredibly nice, accommodating, and eager to answer any questions that might arise. The housekeeping staff was also absolutely lovely. ||This place is truly a tranquil paradise, and words cannot adequately describe the appeal of Talavera. It definitely hit our long elusive “PERFECT NOTE”,...
