I've followed this studio on instagram for a while and finally had the time to pop in (I'm not local).
I'm VERY picky about my workouts. I have a background in kinesiology and would rather work out alone in my home than incorrectly with a group - this class was wonderful & I don't toss that around lightly.
I tried an athletic pilates class, which is not classical pilates but incorporates enough of it so that purists will know how to do each exercise and can easily follow along. Do not confuse "easily following along" with "this is an easy class" because, like all reformer classes, it's as strenuous as you make it.
Sean gave easy to follow instructions along with gentle and helpful corrections. he was very encouraging without being overly effusive or cheerleaderish. The studio makes use of a timer which is fantastic for moving through a routine and working both sides of the body equally, but the beeping isn't my favorite experience. I stopped noticing it as much midway through the class.
The studio is cleaner than most homes I've visited and in 20+ years of pilates, this is the first time I've been shown how to wipe down my reformer, and been given a hot towel to do it with. Joe would approve.
I'm hopeful that my next trip to the desert will have a hole the schedule so I can return and try another class. It was a great workout, superb stretching, and lovely...
Read moreEcore is phenomenal. I've never been a fan of Pilates until Ecore. There are other great teachers at this excellent studio, but I mainly take owner Sean Bergara's classes. Sean is one of the best teachers I’ve ever experienced — of anything — and as a casting director and coach, I’m not easy to impress. He is brilliant and creative. His passion for what Pilates can do for us is palpable. He gets it. Sean has written multiple books. He’s dealt with his own injuries, so he brings empathy as well as expertise. And every class is different, which means your brain stays just as active as your body. You’re never on autopilot.
Sean’s a master at cues. He’ll tell you exactly where you should be feeling the work, so you can learn how to move more effectively and functionally throughout the world, not just sweat through a workout. He offers precise modifications. And because the classes are small — just 9 reformers — it feels personal, focused, and safe.
My strength, mobility, balance, and confidence have grown exponentially since starting at Ecore in late August of 2024. This isn’t just a workout. It’s a return to my body -- and to myself.
I am grateful for Sean, and would give Ecore ten...
Read moreSean rocks! I don't just say that, because he goes to any lengths to make your body rock hard. I say that, because Sean lives for Pilates and his passion is infectious. I love going to his Pilates class. It has toned my body, lifted my butt and shrunk my waist by several inches. The guy knows anatomy inside out/outside in and he will not rest until he's assured, you're doing any given exercise correctly. He is a first-rate trainer and, yes, a pain in the butt... but that's a compliment!, 😜Come check out Ecore Fitness! You will enjoy the clean, airy studio and get a work-out that will keep you coming back for more. Take this from a person who...
