I have been wanting to stay at the Orbit In for about a decade. And it wasn't until I moved to Los Angeles that it was finally feasible. My fiancee and I decided to stay at Orbit In on the weekend that would have been our wedding weekend (which was postponed because of Covid).
The Orbit In was once a residential property and since was converted to a hotel. It has nine rooms, which made our stay particularly pleasant, because there weren't many people around. In addition, the hotel is adults-only, so it was nice to not have boisterous children playing around in the pool. It's also easier to make friends with other guests, especially during Orbitini Happy Hour at 5PM.
The hotel is exceptionally clean. Both the grounds and the room we stayed in were impeccable. Their cleaning staff (super nice ladies, BTW) apparently has been with them for a long time, which you rarely see in any hotel. The furnishings were so lovely. We had comfy mid-century furniture to sit on, and the bed was soft. We even had an adorable vintage kitchenette, complete with a mid-century refrigerator and stove (which work). A toaster, silverware, and cups/plates were also provided. If you love mid-century modern anything, this is a place you should stay in at least once (OK, maybe way more than that.).
The pool area has comfortable pool loungers and striking vintage metal umbrellas. I'm not one to usually go lay out by a pool, but in this case, I enjoyed hanging out by pool and reading the news on my phone. The soft bossa nova music on the speaker was a nice touch. Not too loud, but just audible enough to add to the ambiance. There is an icemaker and a refrigerator that is stocked up with sparkling water, sodas, yogurt, and coffee creamer. There is also fresh coffee every morning, single-serve oatmeal, and granola available. Unfortunately, they aren't able to offer the continental breakfast as usual due to the pandemic, but what they do offer is still generous.
The pool is incredibly refreshing (salt water, no chlorine), and both os us enjoyed taking dips to cool down. At night, the hot tub was awesome. There is even a fire pit you can turn on, further adding to the relaxing feel.
Kevin and Bill are absolutely wonderful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They are extremely attentive and sociable, so if there is something you need, don't be afraid to ask! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Orbit In and look forward...
Read moreThis was the PERFECT Hotel for our small Family Reunion! We reserved ALL 9 of the rooms, so that we had the Entire Grounds and Amenities to ourselves, without having to share or worrying about disturbing any other guests. From the initial booking process (which we started a year in advance in order to secure All available rooms) to the very end on check out morning, it was FANTASTIC. The staff were Courteous, Kind and Professional at All times. The Rooms were meticulously clean, decorated and so cozy!
The Bar Area was warm and welcoming to all attendees, boasting a daily stock of Keurig Coffee, various teas, oatmeal, granola, and a Large Fridge stocked with Yogurt, waters and soft drinks, at our disposal Daily.
The pool was cleaned each day, and was plenty large enough for our group to enjoy, along with a warm jacuzzi There were also bikes to ride at our disposal. It was Three Days and Nights of Total, Complete FUN without hassle, hurry or Worry of any kind.
I HIGHLY recommend this Palm Springs Getaway, whether you're a couple, or small group. It was walking distance to the main street where we were able to enjoy the Street Fare put on Every Thursday Evening.
The Office Manager, Brian, deserves a Special "THANK YOU" for all his effort put forth ensuring my family had EVERYTHING they needed to make their stay Comfortable and Complete! Brian was very attentive and made himself available above and beyond the call of duty!
We will Definitely be coming back! Thank You...
Read moreWe loved our stay at Orbit In. To stay in such an iconic setting was very special, we booked the Eames room which had everything needed for our stay. The mid century vibe is evident throughout the hotel and we loved the uniqueness that this provided. Brian was a great host, mixing plentiful Obitini cocktails by the pool each day during Happy Hour, this was not compulsory but we enjoyed the opportunity to chat to other guests over a drink before heading out. |We loved the warm pool and the complimentary sodas available from, the fridge~nice touch. We made use of the free bikes and explored the neighbourhood taking in all the mid century architecture and some modern additions. Plentiful restaurants nearby, we loved Spencer’s which was a 5 minute walk away.||Positives: |Great mid century vibe |Peaceful setting |Perfect location backed by the dramatic hills and within walking distance of everything |Free bikes |Pool at perfect temperature with cool beats gently playing in the background, plenty of sunloungers|Complimentary sodas available from the fridge |Orbitini hour with Brian||Negatives:|Our booking mentioned coffee and pastries each morning, there is plentiful coffee but no pastries. Just for information breakfast is a very help yourself affair at the poolside bar - yogurts in the fridge, sachets of ready to mix oatmeal, cereal bars, fruit. It suited us fine but be mindful of this if a full breakfast is part of...
