1 star for my latest experience. Don't get me wrong. The freshness of the fruits, veggies, meat and seafood is awesome - 5 stars. The price is comparable to Whole Food - yes, whole paycheck if you buy everything there. I don't shop there regularly, maybe 4 to 6 times a year. I was happy to shop there ever since this location was open. However, my most recent trip was my worse experience. I went there last week in the middle of morning and shopped like normal. Most conscience shoppers were trying to keep at least 3 feet apart from each other. Of course some didn't care and just shopped like normal, pre-covid19. Anyway, that was not my problem. There were only 2 cashiers working at checking out even though there were at least 4 people waiting to pay on each line. If you've been this store location, you know there was not that much space to keep shoppers apart and I was not happy about it. When it was my turn, I was busily placing my items from my shopping cart to conveyor belt. Without asking from the cashier, there was another worker somehow showed up and helping me packing my grocery into a paper bag, Problem 1 started. The town of this location passed plastic bag ban law. I was aware of that because it started at the beginning of this year and H Mart charges each paper bag $$. It was good that I caught that and I showed them my reusable bags. Again, I was busily placing my items on conveyor belt since I got a lots of things and again without asking, the packing worker somehow took my reusable bags and started packing my grocery into my reusable bags. Big problem!!! No other stores in the area, the whole county are willing to touch anyone reusable bags. Hello, Convid 19 is super easy transmitted to anyone through surface of anything. If store workers want to help you to pack your grocery into store new free bags regardless paper or plastic, they will ASK your permission first. Reusable bags, all other store workers don't even dare to get near them. What is wrong with the people who run this store? Are they try to rush customers out of the door? Have more cashiers at check out. Are they trying to sell more paper bags? Beside stores nearby like Whole Food, Trader Joes, Target, all give out FREE paper bags. Is it worth it to shop there anymore???? I...
Read moreH-Mart is a 1 stop shop for all things Korean. All the koreaboos, rejoice. If only this place sold K-Pop, it'd be perfect. We came on a Saturday afternoon not only to check out their food court, with choices a-plenty. But also the actual supermarket itself, which is wonderful. Lots of prepared foods that you can take home and reheat at home. The frozen section is huge and had every delightful Korean frozen food, sweet and savory, that you can think of. Because it was a Saturday, there were plenty of sample stations open and these ladies were not cheap with the samples. Nor did they care if you asked for a second sample. One sample station had these deep fried mini crabs, with a garlic aioli to dip in. Absolutely crunchy salty heaven. They were like mini crustacean chips. Its impossible to eat just one. The lady just laughed at my unfettered glee as I chomped on one. She kindly offered more. A woman after my own heart. Now, since you can't (& shouldn't) have a lunch consisting of free samples, we marched on to the food court after securing the much sought after Banana Milk that my daughter had been begging me for. The price point at the food court is a bit higher than your typical food court but I feel that it is warranted with the quality of the food that you are getting. I got the spicy squid bibimbap ($16), which comes with miso soup, and is served in an authentic hot stone bowl. The food came out piping hot. The rice getting crunchier as you mix around the gochujang with the rest of the ingredients. I wish it had been spicier but I've been told that my taste buds can probably handle hot lava so the spice level on this is probably just right for any Muggle. My boyfriend got the seafood pancake and the japchae ($9.99 for each) The seafood pancake was equally crunchy, fluffy, salty and delicious. They were not cheap either with the squid and shrimp. It was also huge and I was only able to eat 1/4 of it. A total steal for $10. The japchae was just ok. A little too sweet for me. Ive had a far better japchae from Woorijip in Ktown in Manhattan. All in all, this H-Mart location is far superior from the madhouse one in Manhattan and the prices are better too. I cant wait to go back and try the Korean fried chicken station at the food court and of course, for the deep fried mini...
Read moreThis is the newest and best H-Mart supermarket in the area. They have the usual fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, fish, canned goods, packaged, and frozen foods you would find in a grocery store, plus all the Korean specialty foods you could want. The seafood section has everything from fish to shellfish to shrimp, lobster, and more exotic stuff like octopus, and it's worth a visit to the store just for the seafood. There is a whole section filled with rice, dry beans, grains, various coffees, teas, and more exotic items like Korean red ginseng. In addition to the grocery items, there are marinades meats and prepared vegetables so you can easily prepare an authentic Korean BBQ or Bibimbap rice dish. If you are less adventurous, there are frozen versions that you can just heat and eat. I there is a pretty big food court right in the store with at least 3 different places where you can get rice, meat and veggie dishes cooked to order. There is a bakery inside the store with gorgeous pastries, cakes, breads, and Korean specialty cakes. There is also a small section with Korean cosmetics. If you are new to Korean foods, there are several friendly demonstrators giving out samples of some...
