Mattress Warehouse of State College - North Atherton — Attraction in Patton Township

Really wanted to give it time before i left a review, because i wanted to make sure i loved my mattress and could think up my best words to use for this review. I dont think even this will cover just how wonderful these guys are though.

First off though, let me start by saying this is absolutely the best place you can buy a mattress in state college, their selection is great and the prices are much more affordable than most competitors in the area. I was helped my multiple sales people and all were incredibly understanding and polite. I explained what i was looking for and how i best like to sleep, and (Justin, i believe) helped me find a mattress that was perfect for my sleeping needs by having me lay how i usually would to make sure that the mattress wasnt putting pressure on my shoulders.

Now on to my lengthy experience, and why i will continue to be a customer myself as well as recommend these guys to anyone looking for a mattress that i know.

I wont name the brand for the sake of it being sort of irrelevant in this situation, and not wishing to bring discourse to this review, but we ordered a certain more expensive but still affordable mattress that is a competitor of the infamous Purple.

The mattress was late, very late, but it was NOT mattress warehouse's fault in the slightest. This particular company wasnt in stock in the stores warehouse, so we had to order through MW directly from the manufacturer of the product. Mattress warehouse helped us with all of our questions and concerns during the process, was our middle-man through the whole thing and even apologized endlessly despite it being nowhere near their fault. The customer service at this store is incredible, it made us feel valued as customers. They ended up getting one to the store before the one we ordered to my house arrived and we were able to have that one delivered for free to our door.

Two-ish weeks after the first one had arrived the original mattress came and we called mattress warehouse to let them know since we werent sure what to do, and they came and picked it up personally so we wouldnt have to deal with transporting it to the store when we didnt even know it was going to come in the first place. We only live about a block from this location, so the fact that they offered to come and pick it up, free of charge, was very sweet, and we are very appreciative.

Despite the issue with the company we ordered a mattress from, the way these guys handled the situation and how thoughtful their process of helping you pick the perfect mattress for you is made it entirely worth it.

They also gave us no pressure at all to purchase from their location, we looked there first (being that it was closest,) then went to other stores around the area and never had the same experience as we did here, we knew instantly we wanted to come back. They were very willing to work with our budget, and convinced us (in a good way) to up it just a little so we could make sure we got the best bang for our buck, they didnt try to sell us their most expensive models, they didnt push us towards a budget we werent comfortable with, and being that this mattress was the final step in a (more expensive than planned) room renovation, that took alot of stress off our plate.

I recommend these guys heavily, they helped me get a better nights rest and develop a better posture just through making sure we got what was perfect for me. These guys are great, and while im here, i want to let them know that the issue with the company who made the mattress was not your fault, and that your help in the situation was incredibly appreciated despite us being a little bit pushy out of concern/worry for the where-abouts of our product. After about a month, my wife and I returned to Mattress Warehouse today to try out a top-of-the-line aireloom mattress for a second time as we were torn between it and another option at the same price point that we had just looked at at another store.

Upon walking in the proprietor very aggressively approached my wife and I and very angrily denounced us as the month prior when we were in the store we took a sleep report which we presumed was ours to keep, but were informed for this first time that this information was proprietary and, had we been properly informed that only the store would have access to a report based upon on our private responses, would never have consented.

We took the report during our last visit (earlier it was handed to us but oddly the employee took it back, although we expected to have it returned to us) as the same employee left us for about 20 minutes while he went to assist another customer. We got tired of waiting, and took the report off the desk thinking it was ours to keep as it was based upon our private information and as it was previously shared with us.

The store has an obligation to inform the customer before receiving their responses that the report is not theirs to keep and frankly to provide high quality customer service at all times.

At the end of the day the report was useless as we selected a mattress at odds with what was recommended by it.

Most businesses that are comfortable with their product are more interested in the full and transparent exchange of information so that the customer can make the most informed decision possible, since that creates trust, and even if the product they are selling is not the customer's preferred choice today, if they are treated with integrity and decency the next one may very well be.

As the employee was so revoltingly nasty and completely out of line we walked out the door to buy a lower priced mattress from a competitor with twice the warranty. It was the better decision and the customer service we recieved from Mattress Firm was night and day relative to this complete and total jerk. Businesses such as Mattress Warehouse should not be supported so that they can go the way of Love's up the street, preferably without the interminably long liquidation sale.

And before you tell me to send you an email to your customer service account with the same information, why don't you print out this non-propreitary review and correct the systemic failures with this store which are clearly evident by the multitude of reviews here and the fact that all nearby competitors are much...

When we came to the State College, N. Atherton, Mattress Warehouse, my husband and I had already experienced several failed attempts at a new mattress from online vendors. They make it sound like the 365-night home trial is cinch, but guess what?? There are quite a few hoops to jump through before their unsatisfactory product is out of your life. Here’s a tip, don’t buy a S*tv. Their customer service and marketing don’t come close to matching their product. From day one we could hear foam crinkle and springs pop inside their best selling “classic, luxury, hybrid, innerspring mattress”. Yes, I’m a little bitter. We decided to try a brick and mortar store and that’s when thankfully we met Jim. Through the whole process he was patient, kind and knowledgable. After utilizing their comfort exchange policy, mattress number five has ended up being perfect for us. Both my husband and I are both side/back sleepers and Jim put us on the King’s Koil Eastport. It’s a luxurious, hand tufted piece of heaven! We have been sleeping so great and wake up without the aches and pains being caused by previous mattresses (one mattress even resulting in expensive chiropractic bills!). It’s the perfect balance of suport and coziness! If it helps to know, we are in our 50’s and of average size and weight. Middle age demands that I sleep cool and we’ve had no issues with this mattress. The edge support is great which is necessary since we prefer a queen mattress. We couldn’t be happier to the credit of Jim’s outstanding help and support. Don’t hesitate to work with this location. With good communication and patiences, they will help you find the mattress you’ve been longing for. Many thanks again to Jim and the other staff at this location!
