Hi there Cara - Replying to your response. I have attached two photos as you claim my appointment was at 4:30 pm. These appointment emails demonstrate that my appointment was always scheduled for 4:45 pm. I work until 4:30 pm daily and deliberately made my appointment for 4:45 pm to give me plenty of time to walk the 3 minutes to your spa and have time to change. The implication that I was 15 minutes late for my appointment when I was actually 12 minutes early is quite unfortunate... You should probably have referenced your schedule prior to writing an unfounded accusation regarding my timeliness.

When my massage ended, I immediately checked the time as it was very clear that it had not been 75 minutes. It was 5:41 pm, which is more than 15 minutes short of my scheduled 75 minute massage that started on time, and again, which I arrived early for. I proceeded to get up, change into my clothing, then head to the front desk to politely explain the time error on your part, as well as to pay and tip for my service. My payment receipt has a time stamp of 5:49 pm, verifying this, which I’d also be happy to attach.

In future, I would recommend re-checking your schedule prior to doubling down and justifying an error you made, particularly one that is well documented.

I simply wanted to make you aware of an error you made and how it impacted my experience, one that you could have easily corrected with some humility and kindness.

Best of luck in the future.

Original review:

Giving an honest and fair review of this spot. I just moved to Philly and was so excited for this massage. I booked extra time as it’s been so long since I treated myself. The massage itself was nice, however I’m disappointed in the overall experience. I booked and paid my deposit for a 75 minute massage, plus a dry brushing add on. First, the dry brushing was a very quick, light once over on my body. I assumed it would be at least 5-10 minutes of firm dry brushing, but that wasn’t the case. Which is shame on me since there was no time amount attached to adding the service so that was my error in judgement. The primary negative of my experience is that with the 75 minute massage and the dry brush, I was in the massage room for a total of 56 minutes before being advised that my massage was done… At the front desk while checking out, I was about to be charged for 75 minute massage before I politely said that I was actually only in there for an hour. I even said “maybe my massage therapist didn’t realize I was booked for 75” to the girl at the desk. She didn’t apologize, or offer any kind of explanation or kindness… she just deducted the minutes and told me the new cost and then added on the tip I requested. There was no offer to comp me for 15 minutes for a future massage or anything… Overall a mismanaged and rushed visit after really looking forward to this. Sadly don’t...

My appointment was scheduled with Holly on Saturday, 12/28/24 at 5:15pm for a 90 minutes deep tissue massage. The massage wasn’t good at all because the massage therapist wasn’t going deep enough. I asked her a couple times to use more pressure, the first time she did on my back and shoulders which felt great. But the other times, the pressure felt more like a Swedish massage although I asked for more pressure. I really was looking forward to this deep tissue massage only to get a Swedish massage. I’ve been to this spa several times and have gotten deep tissues massages so I know the difference. Usually, the massage therapist would ask me questions and give feedback about which parts of my body were tense. Not this time, when my massage was over, the therapist told me we were done and that there were snacks in the waiting area. The therapist had her coat and hat on and she left the spa before I was even dressed. Totally disappointed during this visit. Totally different experience this time than what I experienced in the past.

Update: The owner read my review and called me to offer a refund or another 90 minutes deep tissue massage. I chose another massage as I’ve had great experiences at this spa many times. Thank you very much Cara! It’s appreciated.

Update: 1/14/25….. I originally had an appointment with Cara for the 90 minutes deep tissue massage but I called to reschedule my appointment and was scheduled with Stephanie on 1/13/25 instead. Now that was a deep tissue massage. Stephanie did an AWESOME job. I had a great experience at this spa and I received the treatment that I’m used to receiving at this facility. I really appreciate the owner caring about the experience her customers receive at her establishment and making things right when customers not being satisfied. I changed my original rate from one to a five. Thank you Cara for caring about your customers and thank you Stephanie for the...

I have been a client at BR for a few years and have referred so many of my own clients to this spa because I used to love my experience there. Back when I started going they offered full body scrubs and sent you to shower the scrub off to complete that service. I always grouped my appointments with a facial and Swedish massage. The facility is clean and calming. You can hear people walking back and forth but that doesn’t bother me. The climate is comfortable, staff is pleasant and generally friendly but not always per my last three visits. My last treatments were not as enjoyable. I usually prefer medium pressure but was squirming during a very firm massage. The technician must have noticed my discomfort and asked if I’d like less pressure to which of course I answered yes. But she delivered the same firm pressure. That was basically my experience the last three times there. I have had several different technicians and no one seems to be able to customize my treatment anymore to accommodate my preferences. This isn’t the worst spa, I still think it’s a nice place but I think it’s time I...

I had a wonderful experience at Body Restoration Spa and with service provider,Cara. I was a little rushed and frazzled when I arrived because I had gotten lost walking there. The receptionist made me feel comfortable. The spa itself is tranquil and welcoming. Cara went over my focus areas and began my massage. She checked in with me several times during my massage. It has been a year since my last one and she expertly found all my knots and tension. After the service was done,I sat in the inner lounge and enjoyed some refreshing lemon water. While I'm checking out,the receptionist gave me a gift bag because I had mentioned my birthday. Whenever I visit Philly,I will make it a point to have a massage here!

I had a deep tissue massage with Cara and it was amazing. My body is pretty messed up from just having a baby and getting back into working out and she used all the right pressure, checked in with me throughout and suggested I get on an every 6-week massage plan and I’m gonna follow through with her advice. Great place! Gonna try Gua Shau (I think I spelled it wrong) next time :).
