Kadampa Meditation Center Phoenix — Attraction in Phoenix

I have been both a visitor and a member of KMC Phoenix. My first experiences were as a visitor during several Christmas seasons and visited while visiting my relatives in Phoenix. On those visits, people extended themselves to greet me warmly and took extra steps to help me have a good meditation experience. In the last year or so, I moved to Phoenix and became a member of KMC Phoenix. I like and admire the down to earth approach of our resident teacher, Gen Kelsang Tabkay. I also like the friendly atmosphere and homey feel of the dining/ living area of the center. The Meditation Room is immaculately clean, the chairs are comfortable and the environment is very conducive to Meditation. I have been going here about 6 months now and can't say enough good things about this place. I started here for their kids meditation class on Sunday mornings. I felt that it would be great for my boys to learn another outlet to dealing with life's problems other than what is demonstrated for them in movies/tv/schools. I'm hopeful it bears and love the teachers - they are the best and my god are they patient (Geron - shout out). I attend the Sunday teaching while the kids are in the kids class and find the teachings very practical and useful for everyday life. The meditations are relaxing and allow you to focus on yourself. I visited here 3-4 years ago. Maybe it's changed but I doubt it. I've been to KMCs all over the country since 2010. This was one of the least friendly by far. I wasn't greeted, no one really talked to me and they avoided sitting at my open table where I stupidly smiled at people who were looking for a seat while eating by myself. They act much more like a business than other centers as well. The "cashier" seemed very offended when I deferred on paying the donation for the meditation as I couldn't afford it at the time. My experience was so off-putting that I haven't returned. The people here do not practice...
