Terrible people.
I went to the store on 03/11/2024. I was buying my groceries and say they were selling fried onion on sale for $1.49/pk. As shown in the photo below. So I picked up a couple cases. Maybe 3 or 4 so total would be 64 packets. She looks shocked as if she didn’t want to do all this work. Like her eyes opened up. Staring and stuff. So she says well basically yells those are for only 3 bags. I see that clearly no where. Continues to argue saying rest are going to be $3.49. I left that there and the rest of the stuff I was going to buy. Buyer Beware. The lady that is around 4’11 to 5’2 and is skinny and not so happy looking is a pain to work with. Basically started talking bad about us in front of other customers. When we started to talk about her she said “ can we not talk here. Let’s talk somewhere else.” You want to pick on customers but when we do it back there is an issue? I knew this was a her problem is when I went to the other Patel brothers store on University City Blvd. They gave me a couple of cases no problem. Will not be going back. Also would not recommend for new people. I am Indian too so getting this type of disrespect to your people is crazy. Just imagine to the...
Read moreOn many occasions, I have bought frozen foods that on opening showed obvious signs of having been thawed and re-frozen. They have had a persistent problem with their freezers and it seems no one has cared to get it fixed properly. I have finally stopped shopping there and support the smaller shops nearby which do not seem to have the same problem. The tissue I experienced was not isolated but happened repeatedly over a couple of months and I even called and complained but the owner pretended this was the first time he heard and suspected my claim. I do not have time to run around calling for a $5 item and taking it back to show him, except that time I had just bought several packets which had to be all thrown away. If you buy something frozen like Rajbhog stuff, open the packet and see if the contents have slid to the side and re-frozen, that is a sign that at some point the freezer had lost cooling to the point of everything having melted!! Eat at your own risk. I will remove this comment if I ever shot there again and find the...
Read moreThis review is specifically for the take-out food counter at the back of the Pineville store, which is now open two years after closing for the pandemic. You can get about a dozen different, typical street food snacks, such as samosa, vada, chaat papdi. The fried items are kept under a heater for hours, so tend not to be that fresh. The chaat is fine and made to order, but don’t expect restaurant-quality food here.
Overall, the cafe is “good enough” if you are craving the taste of something familiar, particularly if you’re already at the store shopping, but the quality is not high. The fun part is its unexpectedness, hidden in the back corner of the store, where you can order from a literal hole...
