Head spa Sanctuary was my first head spa experience but certainly not my first spa experience. I received the 120 min Jade Ritual Japanese Spa with Lexi.
First I will mention the pros- the environment was top notch (beautiful decor and calming vibe) and the robe, sock and furry blanket that was very comforting. The facial portion was also quite nice with cold stones, nice products used and good skill from Lexi. A unique pro of this service was viewing your scalp on the micro-camera and having products in your service tailored to your hair needs. All staff members I encountered were very friendly and welcoming and the service was on time and lasted the full time I paid for.
Otherwise, sadly the experience fell short for me. My disappointment may have been based on my preconceived notion of what the “head spa”experience should be, having watched many videos of Japanese head spa experiences with different tools, hair play, extensive massage etc …and this experience was definitely not like that. Instead this focus was on product use to cleanse scalp versus hands on techniques which promote relaxation. What also didn’t work for me was the lengthy periods of time where I felt like I was just laying and waiting for the next step or long periods of running water that just couldn’t even feel on my head or constant parting of my hair with only 3 second massages to a section. Even the waterfall that I was so excited about having on my hair was placed so far back on my head I couldn’t even feel it. Lastly, I had several periods of discomfort. There was what seemed to be bands placed around my head on 2 occasions (I believe it was a hair steaming product) that didn’t fit me well, they were very tight and I left with a tension headache. Then my back became very strained around the 90 min mark due to the angle I was laying even wjth the leg and back pillows (I’m in my mid 30’s with no back problems for reference).
For me, the service was an upgraded shampoo service that I would have already received from my hair stylist. Although my hair felt clean when walking away, it was not much different than I usually feel after washing my hair and mostly I was disappointed that I missed out on a spa relaxation that I typically get from massages and facials. For 2 hours and $300 I wouldn’t spend my money on this again but I would consider this service elsewhere if I asked many clarifying questions beforehand to know if it would better meet my expectations for relaxation.
Please note that you may be satisfied with this treatment if you are looking for more scalp treatment/product use versus wanting to experience the soothing and relaxation from having your head massaged and hair...
Read moreI never leave bad reviews, but I honestly wouldn’t feel right not sharing my experience in hopes of helping others. I’ve been looking forward to visiting this head spa for over a year, and my husband surprised me with an appointment, I was beyond excited.
When I arrived, the space was beautiful but extremely loud, which was disappointing for a place that’s marketed as a relaxing, luxury experience. I changed into my robe and was escorted to the relaxation room, but people were constantly walking in and out, letting the door slam and talking loudly… it was anything but relaxing. I was also given an eye mask with beads inside, which seemed like it was supposed to be warmed but was cold from sitting out in the AC. For the price point, I expected a much higher level of care and attention to detail.
Still, I stayed optimistic about the head spa itself. My provider took me to the scalp analysis station for what was supposed to be a 15-minute evaluation. She only looked at the very top of my scalp for about 3 minutes before saying I had a little dryness but nothing major, and that we’d move forward with the exfoliating treatment.
Before we started, I asked her to also check the nape of my neck, the back of my scalp, since that’s where I sometimes get dryness, and I wanted the most accurate evaluation possible. When she looked, she noticed some redness and light scabbing and immediately told me she would be refusing the service due to sanitation reasons and the waiver I signed regarding “open wounds.”
I completely understand and respect their policy if that’s the case. However, what bothered me deeply was that the only reason she even saw that area was because I asked her to look, meaning, if I hadn’t said anything, she would have gone forward with the treatment anyway. That’s extremely concerning for a place that claims to prioritize sanitation and scalp health.
Afterward, I spoke with the manager hoping for some kind of resolution or alternative. Instead, I was told I could either book and pay for a completely different service (like a facial) or come back in a month when it healed, which felt like a dismissive response given how much time, money, and anticipation went into this appointment.
I left feeling embarrassed, anxious, frustrated, and honestly heartbroken. For such an expensive, high-end experience that’s supposed to feel rejuvenating and luxurious, I walked away feeling the exact opposite.
I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously, because while the concept is beautiful, the execution, professionalism, and overall guest experience fell far below...
Read moreI went in yesterday, my husband and kids got me a spa day for my birthday. I had two appointments scheduled, a head spa and a facial.
First, the spa itself is beautiful. The waiting area is really comfortable, I loved the fluffy robe, the slippers and fluffy socks. Might want to leave bigger items like your purse at home, the lockers are really small. They fit small shoes and clothes nothing else, and they are not locked.
the head spa was amazing. It was my first time getting one, so don't have much to compare it too, but I think Hannah did an amazing job, highly recommend her. The service was very relaxing, I fell asleep, would definately do this again. My only complaint was that they didn't dry the hair afterward. It was really wet and got the robe I was wearing wet, it was uncomfortable waiting for another appointment and then going through the facial with a cold wet robe and cold wet hair.
The reason why I gave it 3 starts was the facial. I would give the head spa a 4.5, the spa ambiance a 5, but the facial itself a 1.
the appt started late, I had a consultation with the esthetician and told her over and over I had extremely sensitive skin. She kept recommending the Korean oxygen facial. I asked her what the difference was between that and the other facial I had booked and she said it was the same thing just the products were different. I had originally booked their introductory 60 minute general facial.
She put me back in the waiting room after we started the late consultation while she set up her room, then got back to start the facial super late. It was the SHORTEST, most unrelaxing facial I have ever had in MY LIFE, and I've had a lot of facials. It was soo quick, when we were done I asked I literally asked if that was it? There was no massage, no relaxation, she slapped a few products on my face and called it a day. There was plenty of time for some relaxation especially when oxygen dome was on my face but she just sat there.
My appointment was supposed be from 1:30-2:30, we started late and got done way before 2:30. Then she proceeds to tell me this wasnt like a traditional facial, it was more for treatment.. like what?? you told me before I picked this that it was the same as a traditional facial but with different products.
I felt ripped off especially because the one she talked me into was way not only way more than the one I had originally booked, but my skin reacted horribly, horribly to the products she recommended even tho I told her over and over my skin was ridiculously sensitive. I'll never get another facial at...
