I'd give zero stars if possible. Saw Gladiator II here at Plainfield AMC on a Saturday night. Was looking forward to it. Have been to other area theaters where short staffing means waits on food and dealing with trash on the floor of the movie rooms. It was clean at AMC, but there were other issues. The culture in this theater permits people to have FaceTime calls during movies, and to be on their phones otherwise while the actual movie is in progress; not previews. Full blown conversations between couples while movie playing like they're at home in their own living room. No one cares because pretty much everyone here was participating in that. Things have changed in recent years, people have forgotten how to adult in public and have no consideration of others. No one comes in to check on people here at this AMC. So if you're one of the few people here that pay for a movie and actually expect to hear it and enjoy without all these distractions, you're the one that's going to have to get up and waste 15-20 minutes trying to track someone down who gives a care to make the effort to come and check. I later called to ask why they don't routinely check in, and was told that they will if it's reported. Otherwise they seem to stay out because not ONCE did ANYONE come in to check during the 2.5 hour show. And with most people nowadays unable to put their phone away for a couple hours, it's become socially acceptable for people to pull their phone out every five minutes and check their mail, write messages, check out websites, and have FaceTime calls - unbelievable. Thing is, these weren't kids. They were adults in their late 30s-40s. Theaters aren't what they used to be and adulting seems really hard for a...
Read moreWent to see a 1 night only event movie and bought my tickets online. Took 15 minutes after the showtime for them to tell that the movie was cancelled due to technical difficulties. They told the theater that we could get "refunds" for our tickets. Waited 30 minutes at the customer service booth for them to return. Instead of the "refund" I was promised, they were giving movie vouchers, a fiat currency just for them, not giving back money, but instead trying to force people to to come back to spend money. I had to take off work for this event and was very displeased with the customer service from the manager who told me "It's either the vouchers or nothing". I do not not go to the movies often and just wanted my money back straight. I was unable to get a refund from the place I got my ticket from because the theater waited 15 minutes after the showtime to tell us that it was not working.
This was very unprofessional and a bait and switch tactic. The manager was very rude and told me, when saying that "it's the principle of the matter", that she didn't care about the principle. Very poor show of employees and customer relations. I told the manager that I just wanted my $14.20 back, and her response was that the voucher was worth up to $15, but that did not matter since I rarely go to the movies. The vouchers seem like a very greedy way to force people to come back instead of giving the refund promised. I should reiterate that this was a limited showing event that I had to call off work for, but the manager did not seem to care about...
Read moreI have seen three movies here so far. The first time I got tickets the old fashion way, at the stand, but I highly recommend getting them online if you're not getting concessions. If you get them online you just have to scan the code in the confirmation email at one of the two kiosks in the front section.
If you're going for a luxury experience be sure to get tickets for the Dolby Cinema. It has very comfortable reclining seats, superior projector, and superior sound that will literally shake the seats. Will gladly be shelling out the cash to see the new Star Wars here later this month.
If you don't go for the Dolby cinema experience the other theater rooms are by no means bad. All rooms have adequate screen size, image quality, and sound quality. The seats aren't uncomfortable in the other show rooms, but don't expect the same quality as the Dolby Cinema. Seating is also reserved, so as I stated above getting tickets early online usually gives you first pick of the seats.
They have a wide range of concessions at this location. Don't expect it to be home made quality, it is a movie theater after all. Last time I went I took my mom, she got pretzel bites. The pretzel bites were acceptable, and what you would expect, salty with a cup of warm melted cheese.
Everything seemed clean, and all my experiences were overall...
