Edited 10/28/2022-Our party of 5 gave it another go and food was great as usual including their NY Strip steak. Service was top notch this time. Thank you Stone Creek Management for making the adjustment. Enjoy!
Summer 2022 We are new residents to Plainfield. Our friends from Wisconsin are visiting and we chose this restaurant because of its broad menu choices and ambience based on the website. Our foursome was seated at 7:05pm for our 7pm reservation in a booth. Initial contact with our server was 7:45pm. The server quickly ran through the specials of the night and filled our water glasses. Said he would return for our drink orders. Throughout the 2 hour ordeal, The server disappeared for long periods. Forgot requests for water refills frequently . Our drink orders did not arrive until 8:10pm. Excuse had to do with too much inappropriate personal health information shared involving the female bar tender. Our order finally arrived served by what looked like cook staff, still no water refills. The food was exquisite. I was skeptical of ordering a steak here but I've been on a steak streak eating out and preparing my own from local butcher shops . The NY Strip was ordered medium rare and was absolutely dead on. NY Strip is notoriously difficult to prepare correctly and preserve some semblance of tenderness. The steak was butter/garlic/parsley slathered and was delicious. The bacon wrapped scalloped potato wedge was a unique and excellent bite. Our guests each had the pasta dish with shrimp and they raved how good it was. My partner had the meatloaf with a generous helping of three slices and decadent garlic mashed potatoes . The green beans on our dishes were excellent garlic drenched and perfectly sautéed. One of our guests requested another Miller Lite. We had to ask several times to the server and he finally brought it out toward the end of our meal. Lastly , our guest provided the server with his debit card and the bill. The server once again disappeared and it was now 8:50pm. The place had cleared out, the female bartender and three associates were yucking it up in the bar service area and other worker bees were walking around on menial tasks. The server not to be seen. I walked a distance to get the car and pulled up to the curb. Finally , our guest who paid for dinner and his wife emerged from the restaurant finally. Turned out the server was in the outdoor patio area chatting with a former employee and significant other (per the server our guest) and their dog. It was then 9pm. Our guest did not tip the under 21 server and counseled him on the very poor customer service. The server countered with we didn't know what it was like to work in the restaurant industry. We are all 60+ highly successful business people in retail, corporate and finance and this server either needs to be heavily reprimanded or fired. The food was exquisite but the service was ridiculously bad and disrespectful . Have to have great customer service to compliment the product or the experience is nullified . The journey continues for...
Read moreFor this price point, there has to be better Indy. Very disappointed. I am a foodie and eat out alot... I had $172 tab for (4) and still tipped $50. For $50 PPA one would expect better service and restaurant ran better. We walked in 641 on the list. No reservations but everyone came in w reservation and i noticed people would make reservation on the app outside the door. I told the hostess, If i have been here for 40 minutes already and someone makes Open Table reservation AFTER me, I get seated first. She said, I am doing what my manager told me to do. So I open the app and make reservation while standing at the hostess stand. I show her the times reservations are being made and WE should get seated before someone who makes online reservation AFTER us. 1hr 10 later get seated. No greet for another 10. Asst mgr gives us half glass of tap water until waitress shows up. Ordered water, wine, 2 coffees. Ordered app and entrees. Great. Ill bring bread, oil and drinks. Bread never showed up. Shows up w one coffee NOT two ad its cold. Ordered 2 soups and Calamari. FRench onion tasted great, no broth , it was bowl of seasoned onions, the mushroom soup was great. Finally get 2nd coffee. Calamari is cold. TOssed in and Cajun sauce of some kind, (good flavor and better served on time and hot). Wife grilled Shrimp Pasta had Great flavor, my guest liked the meatloaf and nice size Chick Parm.. My steak was undercooked. Waitstaff never asked me to cut and check. Runner dropeed and did not see waitress. By then i was so hungry i ate it anyway and they use a High Temp searing burner and you can taste the gas from the grill and ruined the steak. THe steak itself was decent cut. Seems like owners put effort and money into building a nice place, i suggest you train your staff better and get another manager. I know this is not St.Elmo or Shula's Chophouse but when you drop a $45 steak, still ask patron to cut it. DONT go here for steak, get pasta or soups n salads. Little over rated for the price. There is a Thai place and chilis close by, go there for...
Read moreAbout a week ago, I gave this place a 1-star review. I gave this place that review because of the service I received the first time I've ever came here. My girlfriend had been here multiple times and sighted that it was unheard of for this place to behave in the manner that it did, it was the first time she's experienced it.
A little bit after the review, I was contacted by the General Manager Dana Schuler to discuss what happened. He was sincere in his apologies, and looked to remedy the situation by inviting me and my significant other back to Stone Creek. I accepted the invitation back because though my first experience wasn't the best, this place still had overall potential.
Yesterday, me and my girlfriend came back. We were greeted by the Manager Nick Rydner, who acknowledge what happened previously was unacceptable and looked to improving both the guest experience and his staff's experience.
After yesterday night, I can now give Stone Creek a 5-star rating. Our server, Lindsey, was very attentive to us as well as other guests. The food and appetizers were great, as well as the atmosphere. And lastly, the management has pride in the welfare of this establishment, they take all complaints seriously and look into to them. It would've been very easy to leave a bad review and never come back. However, with management striving to improve customer experience, employee experience, and overall atmosphere, I and my girlfriend decided to come back and give this place another try.
I appreciate the Managers Dana Schuler and Nick Rydner for being apologetic, receptive, and prideful. That's what every great establishment needs to succeed. I lastly want to thank server Lindsey for being hospitable the entire night. That's the manage structure and service I enjoy seeing.
I'll recommend this place to anyone, not just for the food, the great atmosphere, or the bathrooms; but rather they strived to get better and improve any way they...
