Two friends and I visited the Panera restaurant in Plainfield IN at 11 AM on Friday Jan 3,2020, i’ve eaten at various Paneras about 20 times and have always enjoyed the experience. This time, not so much. I studied the menu board for a couple of minutes. A young man who was clearly not yet adept at taking orders assisted me when I was ready to order. I ordered the Soba noodle bowl with edamame. After some fumbling around on his comouter he told me “we don’t serve that anymore.” I ordered Chicken with wild rice soup and one other item. My friends and I sat at a table and waited for our food, which was supposed to be brought to our table. After a couple of minutes my name was called but no one brought any food. A friend went to the counter and returned with the following info: they didn’t have any Chicken with wild rice soup. At this point, had I been alone, I might have asked for my money back and left. But I chose a different soup. Our food was delivered quickly and was very tasty, except our baguettes were over-baked, hard as a rock, and dry with a slightly charred taste. As I left the restaurant I suggested to an employee that they take the soba noodle bowls off the menu board. He said he would tell a manager. A...
Read moreI accidentally ordered my coffee and scone for the wrong store and the manager fixed it for me. I really appreciate that! I usually double check my processes but was hurrying not sure if they closed at 9 or 10. Google said 10 the app said 9. It is in fact 10. They didn't try to rush me out right at 10 or BEFORE either which I also really appreciated. Most of the other Paneras I've been to try to push you out well before they close. Even had someone be mean to me about making an order. I understand preparing to close when it gets close, but sometimes people come late and that's just the way it goes. I've been on both sides. I also saw them ACTUALLY DONATING the baked goods at the end of the night which is ONE OF THE FIRST times I've seen in Indy and I've been to pretty much all of them. Most of them have cameras on their dumpsters and get mad when people dumpster dive. Seen it many times. If they weren't throwing the food away when they tout donating it they wouldn't have the problem and people wouldn't be digging through the trash!!!! Just great job all the way around! Thanks everyone keep up the GREAT WORK!!!! Best blueberry scones! Way better than Starbucks personally they're one of my favorites with...
Read moreWe used to come to this Panera all of the time when it was part of the mall. It was our Sunday morning spot. Since it moved to the freestanding building the service has gone downhill tremendously. We feel like we are just another number and the staff just doesn't care. Take for instance this morning... we decided to try this location again after not having been here for over 6 months. I ordered a pastry and my husband ordered a sliced and toasted bagel. Got our drinks, found a table, and waited......... after standing at the counter and seeing no angel and no workers, a manager passed by and I inquired about the bagel - she instructed a worker to get the bagel and bring it out to us. Waiting (I have finished eating my pastry while waiting for the bagel).... have to back up to the counter where the bagel is sitting and no cream cheese. Finally get everything, but it was so much harder and frustrating than it should have been. Don't see us ever coming back to this location again...
