As a Mexican, I am very, very picky about going to a Mexican restaurant, especially coming from the Chicago Land area into Indianapolis and seeing the local food scene. Hats off to Don Pablo as his restaurant met my expectations with his delicious food. You get complimentary chips and salsa, the chips were hot and fresh and the salsa was full of flavors. We started off with the Guacamole Casero, which was unique as it has shredded lettuce and tomatoes mixed into it. It was delicious, however my personal preference would have been wanted it to have a little more salt and lime juice. We ordered 6 tacos and an order of the quesabirria tacos- we over estimated how hungry we were so this review is solely on what we ate. Tacos de Chorizo: this was an instant hit for me, it reminded me of tacos back home! Full of flavor, consistency in the chorizo and not overwhelming with cilantro and onions. Paired it with their orange salsa which was straight fire. Tacos de Camarón: The shrimp were cooked with a fajita seasoning and were not over cooked which can be a common issue. They were medium in size and were equally distributed within the taco. My husband really enjoyed them. Quesabirria tacos: hands down the best ones we’ve had out here in Indiana. They were not over saturated in any oil, had a perfect crunch, queso was on point and the consomé was delicious and did not lack flavor. The rice, did its job, but personally I’m more of a white rice gal with my meals. Looking forward to having the others later tonight! Customer service needs some work, we were only checked in on our server once and it was when we were at the end of our meal. However she was helpful early on into our meal and brought us extra tortilla chips when we got our guacamole, which did not come with any additional chips, simply the 4 in the molcajete. Overall a good experience and ever in Plainfield, I’d stop by again. I will say one of the things I was not fully a fan of was being charged .75 per cup of salsa to take some home with the rest of my tacos. I was surprised to see that on my receipt and was told “we don’t make the prices, I’m just ringing it in”. Which to an extent I understand, however I would have used the salsa there if I had finished all of my tacos. But that is very much a me thing and the way I think about things.

Getting tacos when I'm out of state for work is always a hit or miss. This one is definitely a hit though. Went there Thursday night to grab dinner. The tacos and salsas are very flavorful. They give you chips and salsa for free when you dine in. Since the food was good I wanted to come back again the next day but I just knew they were going to be busy so I decided to call to order to go. The chips and salsa doesn't come free which is understandable. I also asked the person taking the order if each tacos comes with 1 salsa and she said yes. So I ordered the same thing that I got the night before. When I got there my to go order is more expensive than my dine in + tips. I asked how come and they said the "extra" salsa that I asked are extra but I specifically asked if they come with the tacos and they said yes on the phone. Apparently, no matter how many tacos you order it only comes with 1 salsa. So I told them I'll only take the spicy salsa and not the mild. I'm assuming it was the owner/manager (cause he was in charge that night) just grabbed the regular salsa from the to go order and put the spicy one that I asked for. The dudes hand brushed off my food. I was planning to come back Saturday and Sunday again since the food was good but after that experience, nah. If you guys want customer retention yall need to work on customer service and order clarity. And don't cheap out on salsa if customer orders a lot of tacos for godsake Don't let this review deter you from dining in though. This is my personal experience. The food is really good and I suggest you dine in if you want to avoid all the extra charges they add. Also, if you order horchata or any drinks let them know you want light ice. My drink Thursday was filled with ice from top to bottom.

Tacos Don Pablo is one of our families favorite places to eat when we don’t feel like cooking. I do sometimes wish they had a larger menu but I think they’ve kept it really nice options and high quality food. Their tacos Al pastor are delicious and almost as good as when my husband makes it at home. That is what I usually order when we visit. I always ask for extra pineapple on mine. One of our other favorites is the Birria. I don’t think it’s on the menu but we’ve ordered it as a big bowl before and it was good. Not just the birria tacos but Birria served the authentic way as a stew with cilantro & onions. This visit we only ordered a side of the consume. My only critique with their tacos is the tacos de lengua. I prefer my lengua fried after it’s cooked to make it a little crisper. Sometimes when you order these tacos at TDP they make the tortillas a little soggy because the meat is still wet. That could be solved if they’d fry the meat after it’s cooked but they’re still good. You just have to eat them quickly. The kids meal was good. The beans tasted homemade instead of canned. The taco was a good portion for our kid. We ordered the side of consume and shared it with her so she could dip her taco in it. Overall though we had a great experience like always!

I came here and had great expectations because someone told me they enjoyed the food. I ordered a fajita chimichanga and the tortilla was not fried. I asked the waitress why it was not fried and she said it was how they make it. I asked it to be made again and she left and when she came back she said that is how they make it. I said I thought they were going to remake it and fry it more this time. She left again.... Came back after like another 20 minutes. I still have not eaten. I asked where my food was. She said you will have to pay for a second plate. All throughout this time from the first time I asked to when we left, they were in the back laughing loudly and making fun of us. Finally the manager came out and said this is how we make it. I told him it was not fried... At all. And it really wasn't. The flour tortilla was cold and uncooked when I tried it after it was first brought to the table. I think they thought I was trying not to pay for it, which I should not have but that never came out of my mouth. I asked that it be remade which they never did. I would have paid for a new one but they never made it. They just went to the back and acted like children laughing and making jokes about it. And before anyone thinks that maybe I was mistaken about them laughing and making fun of us because of a language barrier. That was not the case. I am bilingual. They were intentionally being rude and very unprofessional. I will not...
