There's stuff to do in downtown Pleasant Hill, that's for sure. I mean there's a Century Theater for you to watch films with your family/friends, restaurants to eat at before or after your film, shopping places like Ross so you can buy clothes and other items, and there's even a place for you to pick up items for your garden.
Parking is not too difficult to find if you go to the parking lot close to the theater or if you go to the area that is in front of Ross and I believe it's Orchard Supply. If you are trying to park on the main street of downtown, parking is a little harder to find.
It's just in my mind I had imagined something a little more cute and homey when I went, but when I saw that downtown was basically just a 2 block strip I was a little sad. I was also kind of sad to see that there were not any mom and pop shops were, but I guess that's just because I am biased with the idea of the downtown from where I am from and grew up.
But there is definitely a lot of things here to keep you occupied for a solid 2-3 hours, especially if you like food. I felt like most of the places there were all...
Read moreUPDATE - Came here again to eat at Zachary's. I like that you have many choices to eat and there's plenty of parking.
I like this area, but it is really different than when I was a kid growing up in PH. There were warehouse type businesses and the original Monument Auto Parts was in this area. Now it is a nice mix of different things, with good restaurants to eat, the movie theater, some shops and services. My favorites are Jack's, Togo's, Zachary's and Five Guys. I shop at the grocery store, the Michaels and the Bed, Bath & Beyond also find myself at the Hallmark store buying cards. The movie theater is nice, but I miss the dome back in the day. Pros are there is enough parking for all the stuff.
UPDATE - 11/23/22 my current trip has had a few trips here. I've seen a movie at Century, shopped at Michaels and got a sandwich from Togo's. These were separate trips but show you how good this area is. I almost went to Zachary's too. Still like Downtown. Sad that the Hallmark Store & Bed Bath and Beyond closed or are...
Read moreThis shopping area has a great movie megaplex, Orchard Supply and Hardware, a large number of restaurants that tend to come and go, Michaels and Bed, Bath and Beyond, as well as Marshalls. The triple-decker parking garage is the way to go, as other parking can be - let's say, competitive. Jacks offers great food, but other options exist, such as Sweet Tomatoes and Five Guys. They have a number of local events that are always fun, such as parades and small music festivals, beer tasting, and free concerts at City Hall next door. A nice place on a sunny afternoon; not so much on a rainy day. Disclosure - I knew the fellow who designed it from an area of small auto body shops and well, not much. Big...
