I went a couple months ago to develop my film. I walked into the store holding my camera. The back of the camera had opened (I was messing with it, and opened it on accident). I have developed film like this before, and the majority of the film turned out was fine - just 2 or 3 photos were gone. The store employee said to me before I get to the counter, "That film is completely gone." He explained to me that I would basically be wasting my money if I tried to develop it, even though only part of the film was exposed to light. I asked him if he could replace the roll with a new one a gave him (I had plans of taking my roll to another shop to develop it), and he ripped out all of the film. He was ripping it out using his entire arms length, destroying the entire film. I am not an expert in film, but I do know from experience that opening the back of the camera does not ruin all of the film, just the ones exposed to light. I also know that you should not need to rip of all of the film in a roll to replace a roll in a camera. I called the store manager, and he was mostly nice about it. He apologized and offered me free film rolls, but I am devastated by losing that roll. It had a years worth of photos on it. This experience was lowkey traumatizing, and I will not be returning to this location. Super unfortunate because it is in a really...
Read moreMike’s Camera Store is AMAZING!! I own two cameras from them, bought a few years apart. Those experiences were great both times. Today I went in to purchase a new charger for one of my cameras as it no longer charged, and the employee that assisted me, (super nice man, I wish I remembered his name!) Pulled a charger off the shelf, demonstrated how to use it and how to set it up out of the box which was lovely, but then said I think I have an extra one I could just give you. He ended up having the exact kind I was looking for (a dual charger) as a spare and gave it to me free of charge! I was amazed. Despite all the robberies they are still so giving and kind! Great experience today as well as the ones I’ve had in years past. So grateful this store is around and in business. They’re a great asset to the community! I highly recommend supporting Mike’s. They’ll have me as a customer for a long time. Thanks Mike’s, you guys...
Read moreI looked for a real camera store because I wanted to share the experience of obtaining my life's dream kit from a real like-minded human being; someone to appear admiring and envious when unpacking my new Sony a7iii from the box and watching me attach my new Sony 200-600mm lens - someone to remind me to buy the right memory cards, filters, card reader and battery charger, to make sure you know how it works and encourage me to get clickin''. Somehow, the computer and the FED-EX truck doesn't give me the same thrill. Plus, Shawn saved me about a month on the learning curve with a half-hour lesson on how the new Sony works, as well as all kinds of good feelings about the art and science of what I do for fun and pride. Excellent, encouraging experience, from an expert - and oh, btw; all in all, the total price was less...
