My sweet husband tried so hard with this place. As a native Texan that travels the country year-round, I had been craving biscuits and gravy. He found the Shanty Rose, which was on our way to PTown.
We immediately noticed this is very obviously a popular place by how packed the parking lot was. Once we entered, we also noticed every single table was full, and there was a few people in front of us to be seated. We decided that we would wait. We knew we were about to be in food heaven.
We waited about 30 minutes or so, and finally, the table was cleaned and ready for us to sit. The waitress had many tables, but still made sure that we were property attended to. The coffee was fantastic. Downside: they had biscuits and gravy a year ago supposedly, but they no longer offer it. Bummer, right? WRONG. This place has the best pancakes, eggs, sausage, and bacon.

Read moreThe tiny Shanty Rose Pub stands tall when compared to bigger, more well-known Plymouth, Mass., restaurants. Unassuming and void of tourist hype, this plain-looking townie bar and restaurant might not have movie star looks but ultimately delivers on its food selections like New England clam chowder, lobster dinners, lobster rolls, steamers, and whole bellied fried clams, Additionally, the owner and staff seem very friendly and accessible -- not always the case with other higher profile Plymouth restaurants where you might get excellent food but feel no connection to the place. Plus, the friendly hometown vibe makes it a great place to enjoy a beer or other adult beverage. Additionally, the location can't be beat, just a stone's throw away the scenic Plymouth Harbor. The Shanty Rose Pub really proves that sometimes the greatest things in life some in small packages. We would...
Read moreI’m giving this place a 5 star because they try hard even when it’s busy. It was moderately busy when we were there and the staff was swamped. They put effort in treating everyone fair, well, and special. We got our orders and it was exactly what we wanted. We came on 7/7/19. There was heavy traffic because it was a holiday weekend and beautiful weather. Great job to a short staffed team. Atmosphere is great! Cozy, comfortable, divy harbor/port/marina bar. Decorated as such and very laid back. The bacon wrapped scallops were pretty good but my favorite was the $1 oysters. Keep in mind, you’re not getting Martha’s Vineyard oysters, but for $1 they were delicious and went down quick! This will be my go-to spot if we go back to Plymouth. Everyone is going to one of the bigger restaurants for fancy harbor food. Skip the lines! Skip the wait! Go here for a more intimate, casual, and...
