This store is littered with books and other items that sell. nothing is neatly displayed or organized just looked like i walked into a warehouse of book horaders with 2 staffs in sight. upon bringing in a book i wanted to sell (in great condition) and get rid of i approached a much older(white) man sitting at his computers desk and greeted him informing him id like to sell a book. In a matter of 4 seconds this man quoted me $0.25 for the book The 48 Laws of Power. A single quarter. so i questioned him back saying. "Really? A quarter? you're not going to even inspect it?" As i expected like all book stores that purchase books, his irritated generic response was we always get that and people wanting to sell that book. So hearing the tone in his voice and watching his eyes roll at me after i question a $0.25 offer. I asked him, "so do you offer everyone that brings in this book the same price of a quarter for thier copy of that book or you just giving me that offer since im here wanting to sell and get rid of it?" he slightly raises his voice repeating himself like i done something to him to purposely offend him or as if my presence alone wasnt welcomed. this man had nothing but attitude towards me within the minute i approached his desk. i told him upon leaving. i didnt need none of his attitude all ive done was ask him a few questions. Now I'm not going to assume any of this man's prejudices but whatever his name is. he clearly lacks the ability to provide decent customer service regardless of what the price could have been for that book. I will admit i felt discriminated against since I a person of color walked into that business looking to sell a book. I truly believe if my skin complexion matched his that whole minute i experienced would now have started nor ended the way that it did. i truly hope other read these reviews and advise them to not even considers visiting this place. Of course i wont be returning to that business but to the older man of that that business... you sir really need to work on how you talk to and address...
Read moreThis place is really awful. I don’t take the time to leave reviews but WOW. This place is absolutely filthy, the most disorganized bookstore I’ve ever seen in my life, I couldn’t tell who was staff and who was browsing so I couldn’t ask anyone for help. I walked in with two big boxes of books to sell because I had called prior and was told that they are buying books from people currently. A guy who I only knew who worked there because he was standing behind the counter, didn’t introduce himself, just told me to set my boxes down wherever. There were about 100 other boxes of books scattered around that could easily get mistaken for my boxes of books which made me very uncomfortable. I waited for about 30 almost 45 minutes before he even asked why I was there, after standing there with my very heavy boxes not setting them down because I didn’t want them to get mixed in with the other stuff. Then he tells me he’s not even the person who buys the books, that guy is in the back. Finally, he comes up. There are signs that say masks are required everywhere, and the man from the back is not wearing one. He comes up, gets inappropriately close to me, and doesn’t even look at a single book I have. Just says “I’ll give you 20 in trade. We’re not buying books.” I was literally told less than an hour prior, by the same, disgusting, rude, man over the phone they were BUYING books currently. I presume he was the owner. Thanks for wasting my day. I hope no one else...
Read moreIm so shocked by the poor customer service will never come back and dont recommend. Storekeeper made me feel unwelcome and got loud and violent out of the blue, completely unprovoked. For context: I came into the store to sell 2 bags of books, most were only read twice and kept in great condition almost all recently top selling fictions. One book on top had some wrinkled pages. I waited at front desk for a half hour and then an older gentleman who worked there came up with his mask barely around his chin not covering his mouth or nose (during covid pandemic) and I put my books in counter and he picks up my first book and randomly THROWS IT ON THE GROUND violently and asks me "Why would you bring me such garbage?" It was a fiction book Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, a well-selling book that had a little bit of wrinkle on some pages. Im not sure if he had an issue with the book itself or its condition. I was so confused. The rest below it were all best selling fiction books in perfect condition and he only took 2 more out of a bag of 40 books and then just says "Nah i dont want this" without looking at any of them or the second bag. I went to pick my book up off the ground and he said "Why arent you throwing that garbage away?" I was shocked and so confused I grabbed my bags and hurridly left because he made me feel unwelcome. I was polite the entire time and this man threw my belongings on the ground without explanation. Appauling....
