I really wanted to like this place. I decided to treat myself because it’s been a hard couple of weeks so I booked a pedicure at what I thought was a real spa to get ample relaxation. All the great reviews are what made me choose this place. I’m really disappointed and I have no plans to return.
The girl who did my pedicure was incredibly nice and sweet, but she was brand new. Sounded like she was in her first 2 weeks. This 90 minute service turned into 2 hours but there was nothing relaxing about it. No foot massage, no lotion, it was literally just trimming my toe nails, cleaning the cuticles (not done very well), and taking 90 minutes to apply the gel polish. I booked the deluxe gel with nail art. Because I wanted French tip. This service said it had everything included in the regular deluxe pedicure service which also included a “Epicuren hydrating mineral mask, followed by a foot massage with your choice of Blooming Moon Lotion blend to relieve tension” none of this was included.
The majority of the service required me to hold my foot in unrelaxing positions to allow the gel to dry under the lamp. About 90 minutes worth. The gel came out uneven and chunky, the polish flooded the cuticles, and the lines for my French tip were uneven. I felt really bad because I had already corrected her twice, and I didn’t want to ask her to fix more things and seem demanding. The service was also taking much longer than I had anticipated so I didn’t have time for her to correct those things.
For the entirety of the service, I was sitting right next to the window and even being fully clothed in jeans and a long sleeved shirt I was shivering. The seat was a wooden bench with way too many pillows stacked to the edge of the seat. In order To sit, I had to move about 3 or 4 pillows to find a seat and there was no where to put them (my girls with anxiety know why this is a complaint). My feet were cold the entire time. I had to put on my winter coat in the middle of the service because it was unbearable.
I was really hoping to leave the spa feeling better than when I had walked in, but instead I felt like I wasted my time and money. I would have had a much more relaxing experience at a...
Read moreMy boyfriend wanted to give me a spa day for my birthday, so I booked several services at Blooming Moon. This was my first all-day experience. I chose Blooming Moon for the atmosphere. It was the most amazing day ever! As a plus-sized gal, everyone made me feel accepted and there was zero judgement. I thought everyone was super nice and friendly! I didn't want to leave. Joan, the hostess, was incredibly sweet. She gave me hot tea and a special cantaloupe and mint infused water upon arrival. The soak + steam was the perfect reset. Quiet, soothing, and just the right temperature. The outdoor space and studio is so adorable! Loved it. The advanced custom facial by Katie was amazing. She customized it to my skin and left me glowing (no redness, no heavy scent). She gave me really great advice for fighting dryness and wrinkles. It was a wonderful experience! Very relaxing! I will book another treatment with Katie soon. The massage by Drea was the BEST MASSAGE EVER. Seriously, she is the best. Deep pressure, but not too deep. Drea was super thoughtful about trouble spots and made the space so comfortable and relaxing. I will definitely book another massage with her. HIGHLY recommend Drea. I would get a massage by her every week, if I could. My manicure and pedicure were meticulous, and both Jaime and Amanda were priceless. They are so sweet and we had a good giggle. They gave me movie recommendations, and we had such a fun chat. It was just what I needed! The whole place is clean, calm, and well-run. Every handoff between services was smooth, I never felt rushed, and the staff were warm and professional without any sales pressure. Loved the cozyiness, and tea between treatments. I walked out feeling relaxed, refreshed, and taken care of. Five stars! I highly recommend a full-day experience. I'll be...
Read moreThis is a spa in an older Portland home that has been beautifully renovated for this purpose. It feels quaint and boutique—very Portland and not corporate. That said, they have high quality products (e.g. Zoya nail polish and Epicurean skincare) that I’ve found really effective.
The pedicure station has two basins and it feels intimate, not like a factory-line. It’s a lovely place to make a double appointment with a friend.
I like the Advanced Facial because they can customize what I get based on what they see I need. I always end up getting a few exfoliants (topical + microderm abrasion), a UV light treatment, and one other treatment. My esthetician, Katie, is efficient and often shares good tips on what I could do…even if it’s a recommendation they aren’t selling me on. I also appreciate how relaxing it is. There isn’t an expectation to gab. Do keep in mind you’ll need to go more than once to see results. I go monthly or every other month and absolutely love how my skin looks. They have a great deal on memberships for this and are fair about letting you “bank” unused visits when months are too busy.
I try to hit the steam shower before every facial so it opens my pours more. I also use the time to deep condition my hair with product I bring from home, which soaks in beautifully in the 30-min warm, moist shower.
I like the results when I go here and I like the vibe. It’s worth the drive from SW Portland to have something classy but not pretentious that can deliver the results I’m...
