Visit this nice little attraction on the water front of the river next to downtown Portland for something different. It is really worth the visit and gives you a good glimpse into the history of Oregon's riverboat days.

This is a good activity to do just about any time, but we went first thing when they opened and got our own private tour by one of the very knowledgeable docents. He really went into great detail about all aspects of the boat, the things that happened back in the day and current facts as it was related to why they were there and how they existed.

It won't take up much of your time, but will fill an hour or more. This attraction is great for both adults and kids of all ages.

Don't forget to ask for AAA discount if you are a...

I had so much fun here! Our tour guide was fantastic, super knowledgeable and gave a really great tour of the whole boat and its history. The volunteer guides were both very sweet and seemed genuinely passionate about their job.

One thing to know is that (I'm pretty sure) you have to book a tour on the website, or else you can't gain entrance to the boat. Hence some of the negative reviews where people just showed up to the gate and couldn't enter.

I would say this experience is well worth it, especially if you're a history buff...

Drove like crazy down from Seattle bound for Virginia so I could get here before last admission on a Saturday (which is 3:30, according to their website). Arrived at 2:45. Didn’t matter, they were closed for no reason whatsoever. Doors locked, not a soul in sight. Nothing on their Facebook or their phone message. Waste of my time. Totally pathetic and disrespectful, dishonest way to run a museum. I’m livid. Really wanted to check this out too, but now I’ll never get to. Not coming back just to chance this place being...

Had an amazing time at this museum that doesn’t get too much attention. Lots of amazing little pieces of history and tons of models and artifacts that makes for a great way to spend an hour or two. The hourly tours that take you through every aspect of the working steam powered boat. Prices are reasonable and not too expensive, views on and off the boat are fantastic. Not too crowded and it’s a perfect way to enjoy a little piece of the past. Staff is super friendly and location is perfectly situated near downtown.

Our experience was quite odd. Basically ended up being a self guided tour around the room.. The ramp was unlocked and open, the boat was unlocked and open, but we couldn't run into a member of staff if we tried... followed the signs/etc so we weren't lost. Seemingly was just an abandoned ship! Would be a 2 if we had to pay the $14 admission.. but I guess if you can "sneak" on then have at it?

Although google maps says it is open today, the website says only Thursday and Saturday from 1-5pm. Be sure to check the website before coming to this museum. Looks interesting — but not open today. Edit - came back on Saturday for hours listed on their website. Again closed. Clearly a few people on board (staff presumably), but gate is closed before 4 despite stated hours until 5pm.
