This place was unexpected and looks unassuming from the outside. Inside is a treasure trove of Portland history and fascinating information about firefighting. The volunteers were friendly and very informative without hovering. A gem of a find for someone who likes old electromechanical stuff!

Not a large museum but loads of history ! I’ve been around Portland at the tourist locations hearing about the great fires and to be able to see that piece of history was great! Funded from admissions and sales. Noble cause.

It was a very interesting visit. My grandfather was a retired Portland fire fighter. They were very informative.

We can’t say enough great things about the Portland Fire Museum! Such an amazing collection of artifacts and history packed into the building! Mike and Dana gave us a personalized tour and provided so much information. We are the family of a former Portland Fire Chief and they pulled out all of their archives from his time with the department. We saw many photos of my great grandfather that we had never seen before. They are so knowledgeable and were doting on our children so they had a great time, too. We were talking about our visit for hours afterwards! Go visit if you...

Great for the kids and the family. We love going here to see Santa with the little ones during the holidays. Everyone is super friendly. You can see historical fire department equipment while at the same time play with different holiday toys. The Santa here is the best and great with kids. You take your own pictures with Santa which are free, but donation's to the museum are greatly appreciated and help keep the doors open. It has become one of our...

Come experience the joy of listening to retired firefighters talk about the history of the job! Almost everything from the past exists here, frozen in time. You’ll see stables for horses, old fire engines, dispatch equipment, books of hydrant locators, bucket brigade equipment, and more. Bring the kids and expect them to wear their fire hats and badges for...
