The Weldon Hotel does not disappoint! The special, responsive guest-care staff were super helpful. They delivered a turntable to spin some LPs -- how cool is that!
The rooms are hip, wide open, with high ceilings. There's a counter in the open-space kitchen and a sitting table to dine at. Stainless steel appliances, deep sink, dishwasher, stove, coffee-everything! I could live here for weeks.
The shower is divine and the toilet paper is velvet -- I kid you not!
Very comfortable beds that are firm and fluffy, euphoric with or without Maine gummies.
The location is right on! Just off of Commercial Street and within spitting distance of many, diverse restaurants.
Coming to check out Portland -- the Weldon is gotta at the top of any list. Four album covers hung on the wall -- did they do a mind-meld before I arrived to know Van Morrison Moondance, Grateful Dead American Beauty, Taylor Swift Midnights & Bruce Springsteen Born in the USA are on my top tier playlist?
Thanks to Jaime, Brandon & top cook, Jay, for doing the Weldon right. Great getaway from...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at the Weldon Hotel for a weekend getaway from the kids. When we arrived at the hotel we found a non-descript old brick building that was unassuming from the outside but as soon as we entered the main lobby we were hit with a brightness and inviting ambiance that can't be put into words. This entire hotel was extremely well thought out and curated. Our suite was not of your typical hotel. We were first greeted by the warm smell of sandalwood and the beauty of wide hickory hardwood floors. Entering into the kitchen/living area we found boutique finishes, decorations and special attention given to the placement of everything to include the throw blanket on the couch. The bathrooms were stunning and modern and the bed was very comfortable. Everything from the coffee maker, to the dishes, to the crafted furniture, to the carefully selected records on the wall made everything perfect. The check-in and check out process was seamless. This is possibly the best stay I have every had...
Read moreWe stayed 5 nights, the bill was $2,200.44. The hotel is a work in progress: No ADA rooms, bathrobes are "back ordered", there's no printer/scanner in the 3 co-working rooms, the shower floors don't have anti-skid strips, etc. There's no onsite staff, and it was spooky staying there with no one else in the building (I did meet one other occupant in the entrance hall, who'd been there alone several days before we arrived). Google shows the back of the hotel, which causes confusion because you can't get in there; an overzealous food delivery guy ignored our written instructions to hand the food to us at the front door, simply leaving it on the ground at the back door instead. Finally the hotel website shows coffee being poured into a mug (complete with handle as you'd expect when drinking a hot beverage), but the mugs in the rooms don't have handles - couldn't make it up. Having said all that, the remote staff were responsive to our calls, quickly hand delivering laundry detergent that was missing...
