Rocky Bottom Fisheries — Attraction in Portland

Such a great experience. This tour is a must do in Portland, Maine! It’s great for all ages, kids, adults, couples and everything in between. This was the highlight of our Maine trip and would go back in a heartbeat. Steve is a great tour guide and Karin (sorry botched the spelling probs) were fantastic. They were super hands on and got us involved in the lobstering process. They are a wealth of knowledge and their demo was so fun! We didn’t know what to expect when we booked the tour and they were super kind and accommodating. We booked pretty last minute and had some unique circumstances which they were able to accommodate. Super kind of them! Much appreciated!!! The views on the water were unmatched. We saw some porpoises and a seal. Just so much fun. There was also the most adorable group of kids on the tour and we had a great time with them. They weren’t afraid and held the lobsters before the adults even did ❤️🦞🦞🦞 I liked the family feel of this tour. It was also a better price point than the other companies when we looked around. We were disappointed the other lobster demo company was booked solid a week out before our trip. Rocky Bottom had slots open though, so we made a reservation for a tour, and I am so glad we did! This was a highlight of our trip and a family member we brought with us said it was the best day he's had in a long time. We had a 5 and 7 year old, and although they didn't want to hold lobsters, they loved learning about the boat and sending crabs down the "crab slide". I felt like everyone on our trip - another family group and a couple - had a great time, and there was something for everyone to get their hands on in addition to the lobsters.

It was a little rocky at times, and I was glad I took dramamine because I get sick easily. Felt fine with the dramamine ahead of time.

An added treat, the restaurant Rocky Bottom shares their pier with was not on our planned agenda, but we had a great lunch there with lovely views after our tour!

We had an amazing experience on the sunset tour with Rocky Bottom Fisheries! The cruise was absolutely beautiful. We got to see several lighthouses and islands along the Portland, Maine coast, and the views were stunning. Our guide was friendly and super helpful throughout the trip, making sure everyone felt comfortable and engaged, and they even let us suggest songs to play. The owner was incredibly knowledgeable as he’s been doing this for over 55 years and really knows the area like the back of his hand. It was BYOB which was awesome, and they had pillows and blankets for you to get cozy as it gets a little cooler as the sun sets. The boat itself was nice and they had a rest room there as well. This was such a memorable and relaxing experience, the views were incredible, and everything was great.
